Honestly I can't remember a time when I wasn't at least distrustful of people who looked different. Natives mostly, we don't have many niggers here.

I went through a period where I denied those innate feelings. I went through a period where I would excuse their behavior which I noticed wasn't very good. I went through a period where I thought that the differences I observed every day were just a product of upbringing or "generational trauma." I even went through a period where I accepted genetic differences, but told myself that we should still judge each individual on their own merits, even if their predisposition was to be primitive.

But its all denial and thought censoring. In the end I knew from childhood that those people were different, that you could tell immediately from their appearance that they were untrustworthy. I simply stopped denying it. I stopped letting the cultural indoctrination affect me.
Outwardly I act like I still believe that every individual should be given a chance. People are surprisingly receptive to the "I believe we have differences but should be equal under the law" stance. But I don't work with niggers or natives. I don't let them borrow my tools. I don't associate with them in any way besides the bare minimum required.

Why was the enemy variety so limited?
Why were the weapons so few and far in between? Why were the levels so shallow and repetitive? Black Mesa was an underground facility but nearly every area was different. Why was the gravity gun such a fucking gimmick? Why is ravenholm so overrated? It felt like they couldn't match the majesty of HL1 so they decided to suck the players dick at every turn talking about what a legend he is. God it got fucking annoying when the umpteenth NPC started kissing my ass. I just wanted to have an adventure. Not have my ass last licked by every single character I met.

I must admit I too found the deification of Gordon Freeman rather annoying. Especially in the context that Black Mesa had very few survivors, so word of him would've been limited to the testimony of a few.

Anyone else wish someone would make a mod where Black Mesa can be explored intact (no destroyed paths, piles of toxic waste, downed power lines etc.)?

The combine are horrible villains. They are generic alien space nazis. I liked the aliens of HL1 they felt real. When fighting then it felt like you were fighting a scared and confused wild animal. Except the alien grunts and that giant thing with flame thrower arms. That scared me legitimately when I had to destroy it with an orbital strike or the electrical grid.
