>It is very different for a member of the bourgeoisie, even such a down-at-hell member as I am. Even when I am on the verge of starvation I have certain rights attaching to my bourgeois status. I do not earn much more than a miner earns, but I do at least get it paid into my bank in a gentlemanly manner and can draw it out when I choose.
>my bourgeois status
>I do not earn much more than a miner earns

What in the literal fuck did Orwell mean by this? Do the bourgeoisie (according to Marxists) have some sort of inherent "bourgeois status" that is independent of how much money they earn or have?

If a so-called "member of the bourgeoisie" lost all of his money, while a so-called "member of the proletariat" saved and invested wisely and became very wealthy, would they both still remain in their same birth-ordained Marx-defined classes?

The retardation of Marxism seems to go deeper than I ever could have imagined.

It's like "white privilege"
It doesn't exist, but if you can convince some retards that it does then you can profit

>signaling to the proletariat so they don't gulag you when the revolution comes
Bourgeoisie ARE the problem. Hence, the need for a Peoples' Democratic Dictatorship to allow for a socialist market economy, but to prevent the inevitable expanding bourgeois middle-class from demanding power and instituting a death spiral of woman-lead weimarification resulting in the eventual destruction of the society.

I don't even know which one I would be classified as at this point. Probably bourgeois since I'm a fucking white male, so I end up labeled bourgeois by default. They never gave me my class certificate when I was born though.

Whenever people talk about "expanding the middle class" they are advocating for the expansion of the bourgeoisie, and the bourgeois values that allow for globalism and anti-social cosmopolitanism. Forget everything else, the essence of Marxist theory is that the state of bourgeois control is inherently unstable (see: modern liberal America), and the social and economic circumstances that it creates will lead inevitably to populist revolts (see: Trumpism (fascism)). The Democratic party, and the New Left more broadly in the US and America has abandoned its roll as an advocate for workers. It only organizes in brown and black neighborhoods even though whites represent the largest number of underclass, underemployed, and unemployed in real numbers. Western Leftism is anti-white, so it can't be about workers. So the only alternative to bourgeois decline is fascism. It's still better than the alternative.

Any individual can dedicate himself to "the cause" and mentally transcend class. The US is probably fucked though, because there's not time to go through a revolution, and all of the destruction it would entail. It's just going to get further and further up Judeo-financed globalism until the whole thing collapses and balkanizes, and China takes its place as the Superpower.

Just because you have newfound money doesn't mean you have been accepted by the class you aspire to join

Look at lottery winners. Their working class or middle class minds can't comprehend how to manage that amount of money effectively.

>Their working class or middle class minds can't comprehend how to manage that amount of money effectively.

This actually goes along really well with what I was thinking, which is that your "class" seems to be determined by your IQ. Which seems weird, but... well, the only difference between Orwell and one of the miners he speaks of seems to be that he's highly intelligent and can make a more white collar living (writing) whereas a miner is most likely lower IQ and has to resort to more physical grunt work like mining, and so despite the fact that they end up making about the same amount of money, he's considered "bourgeois" just because he's intelligent.

It's hard for me to fathom any other explanation. He speaks of his "membership" as if it's something other people can just magically detect. He says bankers treat him more nicely because he's bourgeois. Like he wears a fucking badge that says BOURGEOISIE MEMBER.

Actually, that's exactly it, isn't it? Working class is more or less by definition people who do the grunt work/physical labor eg. mining, but also things like factory work, etc. Bourgeoisie aren't necessarily wealthy people, but merely high IQ people who are able to make white collar livings - but this also ends up including wealthy people since wealthy is highly correlated with IQ.

So it ends up appearing as if it's rich vs poor, but really it's high IQ vs low IQ (or more specifically, low IQ plus a small group of high IQ who are using the low IQ population as a tool to gain political power via revolution)

holy fuck

The way you act, your stature, the way you speak and dress is the biggest indicator of the class you aspire to.

Makes sense if you know anything about Karl Marx. That Santa imposter never toiled a day in his life. In fact his living was paid for by his friend that owned land

well yeah, being bourgeoisie was always partly about how smart you are
