The founding fathers gave congress the power to put the judges back in their place by impeaching them or closing down, downsizing, or adding new circuits.

Modern judges act more like unelected governors than past judges.

There's not really any arguing it, as far as I'm aware. The judge can't just throw you in jail for contempt if you aren't guilty of it. But Arpaio clearly was, he violated the judge's order. Usually when you're found in contempt you either serve the sentence or comply with the order and are released.

To be clear, I'm not saying the judge isn't a piece of shit. And I personally see absolutely nothing wrong with racial profiling other than that it can sometimes result in "tunnel vision" when investigating certain crimes.
