There is only one thing that matters: that the elite that control your country have a stake in it. You have to prevent the government from being controlled by an (((international elite))) that will treat your country not like a king would with a country he controls, but like a conquered country, tearing it apart and destroying it.

That is why the idea of separation of powers and """"democracy"""" is retarded.
It turns the members of government into virtual bureaucrats with no real individual power. This then simply means that the people with real power will be outside of the government, anyone with enough money to buy enough of these politicians out individually can benefit from how the system is designed to block their individual action so any honest person is squashed by the system.

In the beginning the majority of them will be honest and not corrupt, but the process of degradation only goes one way, and eventually there is a corrupt (((establishment))) that makes any positive change impossible, because of the lack of individual power among members of government as explained above.

For example someone like Trump, assuming he isn't corrupt, can't change much by himself because of the entrenchment of the establishment. Congress can block his every law proposal and judges can stop any executive order on the grounds of technicalities, this wasting his time (like they did with the muslim ban, etc)
And this is not counting the massive amounts of unelected bureaucrats that fill so many positions in government.

Then there is election fraud (more registered voters than adults exist in the US) and similar issues, the parties themselves being corrupt, etc.

There is the argument that you could solve this by "voting everyone out" but that is bullshit.
Aside from the fraud it was a miracle that trump himself was elected at all, considering all the mass media lies about him, and it would be next to impossible to get Americans to replace most members of government through voting.
It would require a lot of action from them, a lot of time, and lots of candidates whom you couldn't even be sure aren't also corrupt or controlled opposition. We have enough doubts about trump himself, can you imagine electing hundreds of new faces in congress, getting americans to give a shit about so many third parties, and being sure that they are at all viable?
It's just unrealistic
The reason why we got to this point is also because people became complacent. It's inevitable as humans weren't made for democracy, it's not in our nature, most people will rather ignore the things that are done to them than actually take action, they are programmed to follow not to lead. Because human societies are oligarchies and monarchies, NOT democracies even when we pretend they are.
Peoples "governing themselves" will never work precisely because of this, most humans are simply not made to govern, but to follow. They are not equal to each other regardless of what institutions you create supported by that idea.
So a people "governing themselves" will always naturally end up being governed by a group of people who are actually capable of doing it, and they will submit to them, if not in a year, in a decade or century.

But democracy only made the whole government thing worse, because these oligarchies are now nebulous, most people don't know them, they only know their puppets so even in a revolt they wouldn't be harmed, they have no skin in the game because they are international and can just move to another country they control.

Could we find a strong leader who appeals to enough of the various cross-sections that he can actually get things done? Look at what happened to Germany in the 30s-40s, they identified the international oligarchies, rebelled to them, kicked them out and became independent.

But the power over the country has to be within the country itself, and held by people who are of the same "tribe" (ie race and culture) as the nation itself.
Otherwise, you don't have unity. Humans are tribalists by nature, so for example the jews don't care about us as they are their own tribe. They treat us like conquered foreigners because that's what we really are.
A king or noble from the same culture and heritage would not have any reason to destroy it, and would want to preserve it.
The damage an autocrat can do can be amended, but the dissolution of peoples and cultures is irreversible.

Sure, there are some binding elements such as religion, ethnicity and more nebulous but important commonalities like culture and location, but there will always be those who turn against the group to maximize their own rewards.
