invest in tighter borders, an immigration system with the sole purpose of training people to work and adapt to community living (no more of this name a few presidents or get married and get a visa bullshit). Redirecting money to improve the equipment of failing schools will not help the school stop failing. Shitty teachers and school management are part of the problem, but most of it is shitty parents that don't discipline their unruly children. Cooperation between good parents and good teachers is the key to a good school environment.

Worker re-training is all fine and dandy, but liberals tend to use this as a simple retort to the argument that shutting down coal mines and other such "undesirable" leads to huge numbers of people out of work with no prospects. It isn't simple to retrain a bunch of 50 year-old guys to reply to this post or your mother will die in her sleep. These guys have done this one thing most of their adult working life, and they aren't just going to suddenly jump up and become wind-farm engineers.

Finally, since when have liberals ever given a shit about improving roads or transit? They like to use "muh roads" as a cudgel against capitalism, but when it comes time to devote money to it they're exactly as disinterested as conservatives.

Niger we loose 350,000,000,000 a year on illegal immigrants nationally. If we kick out all illegals and their anchor babies we could ha balanced budget inside of a decade. Then we could actually start paying off the national debt. It costs something like five times as much to drag an illegals kid through public education. Every single one that we stop at the border is a boon to the health care and education systems.
