When the Soviets liberated Majdanek, they claimed 2 million had perished. Now that number is down to 70,000. Same thing with Auschwitz. Original claim was 4 million, now it's about 1 million, yet it has always somehow been 6,000,000. Aside from pic related, you can see the plaques have changed at Auschwitz 3 times: the original, the one from when the USSR collapsed and a new one put up a few years ago.
