Most of the goths that I knew were pretty liberal. However, they recognized that black people were not safe to be around because they were so often waify girls who would get predated upon. goth music is pretty much proto-punk and post-punk like, from the late 70s and early 80s is when it started, by 1983 it was in full swing, the cure, etc. there were other somber music styles around that time (like the smiths) which weren't goth but held many similar things in terms of sincerity and romanticism, except they weren't goths, more like skinheads (not all skinheads are racist, fyi) also then you had the ska scene in the 90s, i'm sure at least a few dozen goth kids left goth for ska, or perhaps the other way around. by columbine goth had already atrophied and many had grown out of it, by after nu-metal and columbine and linkin park bullshit, emo came in full force.

I haven't met a goth since forever, but I know that the metal scene has a lot of right winged followers.

I've dated a few girls that were more or less goth.

In so cal, there are a lot mexi goths for starters. High overlap with girls into witches and stuff, listen to the Cure and Crystal Castles, all that jazz.

My ex went to Catholic school and so did I, even though she rejected the religion and on some level authority in general, her taste in aesthetics was clearly influenced by it and she shared many values though not always consciously. For instance, most of the goth girls I know tend to be monogamous and seem long term relationships. Haven't known a single one that would call themselves conservative though.

Death in June comes from the industrial scene. Einsturzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Skinny Puppy (to an extent), shit like that. Neo Folk is sort of an offshoot. That's why things like Coil exist.

When a subculture emerges in the US, most of the time it takes a couple of years (or decades) to develop itself in Europe. Columbine never influenced Goth culture over here because it wasn't kicking of yet (and never really did).

I remember around 2000-2004 Punk was actually still fucking huge over here. The Goth-scene (over here in Belgium) never grew big, it went from punk straight to grunge/metal/emo. Starting HS (2005) there were loads of emo's and some punkers at my school, but no goths.

I've never really met much Goths so I wouldn't know. But for metalheads and emo's: legit all of them who were really into the two genres; almost all of them that have an education became conservatives.

All punks I know are or have become SJW scum.
