Is there anything more pathetic than someone over 30 years old still hanging onto the idea of anarchy or being punk?
Seriously, I know so many grown men in my town that pride themselves on being "punk" and it is the cringiest shit alive.

Imagine your biggest accomplishment being that you've played in a band that sounds like 100 other bands. Isn't that sad?

Punk is the birth of modern degeneracy.

I waved bye bye to that about 10 years ago when I was 20. I realized they had nothing intellectual to offer and most of them clung onto punk as a subculture because they were societies rejects that needed validation for their anti-social pretentiousness through an echo chamber community.

Sadly some of my best friends from childhood are still "punk". I just keep my distance.

But there is nothing rewarding about that subculture. Its filled with awful just awful people.

I do have a soft spot for pop-punk though...

I miss punk, the way it was before SJWs took it over and completely ruined it. I know it's always been mostly left-leaning, but it was never as awful as it is these days. Crusty anarcho-punk wanna-be vagrants fucking everywhere.

I still like loud music but ditched the lefty shit when i was 21, 99%of punks are islamist cocksuckers now

Liking something and actively subscribing to a culture that is built around purposefully making yourself "different" are two different things. I've loved the band Brand New since I was in middle school but I was never once an emo kid nor did I stop dressing normally.

Punk is just music. The sooner you realize that, the better off you are.

It is a little embarrassing when the older punks bands like Rancid or Green Day still try to dress up, then hop on a tour bus or private jet.

It was so great to see bands like All American Rejects, New Found Glory, and SR-71 get a few songs on Rocksmith 2014.

First post best post.

You grew out of being independent, the rest of us didn't. Yeah, I agree there are some cringeworthy shitnecks out there, but "punk" as a state of mind, is all about claiming full responsibility for our actions as an individual.

Listen to more hardcore, you fuck.

I still dress punk sometimes, but I grew out of the punk mentality around the time I was old enough to vote. However, nothing else gets me as pumped up as Johnny Hobo does

Yeah it's pretty pathetic.

The same with people who are still " goth" and make everything " goth" and I ironically celebrate world goth day and making cupcakes or sauces black and calling it " gothamole" and shit unironically.

THIS
It's amazing because when you really think about it, anyone- even from the fucking beginning of it all (late 70s or something?) should have been siding with the right. Now though, you can tell that deep down, they're really just in it for the fashion of it all because they incorrectly assume the left - which favors bigger government (which is closer to slavery) - is fighting for their rights. In reality, it's completely the other way around. But (((they))) have used their usual manipulative, "accuse the other side of that which you are guilty of" tactics to brainwash subcultures like punk, etc. into thinking (((they're))) on their side.

as a musician my definition of punk meant being independent. we manufactured our own merch, we recorded our own music, we booked our own shows, drove our own van, etc. DIY ethics. but it is pathetic to see people maintain their views that they established as edgy teens. Ive become completely alienated by the art and music world because their work is 90% virtue signaling. getting older and realizing the leftist ideology of bands that I loved growing up. I'm at the age they were when they wrote this shit, and I can't comprehend it. how can anyone reach adulthood and not read a book that changes your life forever.

It's just as bad as Rage Against The Machine signed to a major label and available in Walmart. They say it was only to get their message out. Of course that's no excuse now when you don't need record labels or stores to sell music.

People try to quote or use a quote from Chomsky about his books in Barnes & Noble as well, even though he's anti-corporation. Just a bunch of hypocrite faggots.

I hate the term Indie as well.

You can't alter personality, but you can appeal to it. Rejecting "punks" and edgy teens, rejecting feminine men, rejecting all sorts of personality, will end up with a more degenerate set of ideas taking over them.

That's why anarcho capitalism and the libertarian edgy stuff is actually good. Because some edgy teens actually spend their early years learning stuff that is incredibly helpful to them and changes their lives for the best on a fundamental level. Anarcho capitalism was a great success so far, and it made great impacts in the lives of many. The alternative of teens being edgy and rebels is them being edgy and rebels for a degenerate leftist dogma.

yes, that's what Lydon's book "The Great Rock n Roll Swindle" is about. How they have just repackaged rock as the latest teenage rebellion since the 50s, when in reality the same music was and is used to sell goods and wares in prime time.
