Reminds me of when I watched spike lee's movie "Do the Right Thing" (1989), which apparently was supposed to be a deep movie about racial issues made by a black director but ultimately just showed niggers nigging.

One prime example is a scene in the movie where some nigs unscrew a fire hydrant, letting it blast water across the street so the niglets could play in the water. When some white dude drives by in a nice car, some of the older ones cover and angle the hole in the hydrant to spray him as he drives by.

Lo and behold, I was on google maps a few years ago (looking at NYC in Bedford-Stuyvesant area) and I fucking saw that the google car drove past some niglets playing in the street in the puddles made by a gushing, unscrewed fire hydrant. This was IRL (well, google street view)

This covers multiple infractions. Its not just about an open flame. Its also about the safety of everyone around it both people and structure. What happens if people eat said food and get sick? No laws protect them. What happens if that guy is selling the food? No laws hold him accountable. Its just all around wrong and not a wise decision.

And the officers handled it pretty well. They provided the least aggressive solution whilst getting pelted with debris and making no arrests. 7-12 months ago depending on the officer someone might have been killed here.

They do have a set amount of water, just a few hydrants opened in the same local area drastically reduces water pressure.

The water is also drawn from the drinking water supply, in large cities high quality tap water is precious due to insufficient water treatment facilities. It's meant to supply thousands of people with drinking water, not playing in the streets. Particularly in cities like Los Angeles that experiences periodic droughts it can take a long time to restore water pressure.

Opening fire hydrants isn't the problem technically but it's a start. First they open the fire hydrants, then they start littering, then they start blocking fire escapes treating it like balcony, then they start smoking in their beds, then they jay walk red lights. This all is shit that slowly errodes civilization and leads the decline of the neighborhood. Ultimately it leads to corruption, organized crimes, and poor living conditions. The law is sacred. There is wiggle room and you don't have to be a douche, but you also have to respect the law in exchange. Only this gurantees a peaceful life. That's what nobody south of nothern italy gets.

Anyway, nothing racist here. The cop comes off respectably, assuming he let them know they couldn't grill there and they just didn't listen.
