>Average student debt is $30,000
>Job market dwindling due to automation and oversaturation of college degrees
>Now a service economy due to loss of manufacturing jobs
>Housing unaffordable and rent skyrocketing
>Cost of living going up while wages have stagnated for years
>Social security and pension funds will dry up by 2035
>Recession of 08 has permentaly crippled the economy

Is there even a future for Gen Y and Z?
Decades of neoliberal capitalism and a system that catered to Boomers has left everyone out in the cold to die
>>

No, why should they be afforded or guaranteed any future if they didnt fight for it?

There is soo much shit the boomers went through that you have no idea about. Im gen x, my parents had me when they were young. I know their struggles.
>>
>>138649272
>what is Vietnam
What are draft dodgers not to mention the majority of them protested the war by forming the hippie movement which was the beginning of the downfall for America
The Iraq war was mostly fought by Millenials and Gen Xers and of course Afghanistan War which is still going on today
>Muh struggles
Yeah the struggle of graduating HS, getting a well paying manufacturing job, buying a house and car at 22 while knowing there's a huge pot of gold of pension on the otherside of the rainbow. Most Millenials don't have any of those luxuries

Boomers took what the WW2 generation fought for and ruined it like they did with future generations

Draft dogers, what all 15 of them? Bill clinton? The downfall did start with the boomers tho.
The Iraq war was mostly fought by Millenials and Gen Xers and of course Afghanistan War which is still going on today
My apologies, I meant the gulf war
>Yeah the struggle of graduating HS, getting a well paying manufacturing job, buying a house and car at 22 while knowing there's a huge pot of gold of pension on the otherside of the rainbow. Most Millenials don't have any of those luxuries
They did start off with plenty of opportunities, however, by the fall of the Soviet Union, shit got much darker. Manufacturing left the USA in the mid to late 90's.
>Boomers took what the WW2 generation fought for and ruined it like they did with future generations
I agree, however, to believe that boomers coasted through 1970-2008 is to be naive.
>>
>>138650701
The Vietnam and Gulf wars were not essential to America's stability. Had it not been for WW2 America would've never gotten out of their economic depression or became a superpower country. They fought to plant seeds of prosperity for future generations

NAFTA, 9/11 and the recession were the final nails in the coffin. Gen X at least had some prosperity in the 80s and 90s but now Millenials only have a fraction of that. The social security scheme is a Ponzi scheme that only works for the old investors while the ones paying in it now will not see much return

It's never been a better time to be a NEET. Vidya and anime galore. Fuck the American rat race. Still, I love hearing arguments about how a 2017 house and wife are worth it, even if I've never been remotely convinced.

I might, however, make $3000 at some mcjob to finance a trip to Thailand. Beyond that, the paltry money I would get for giving up 8 hours of vidya and anime every day offers very little compared to the NEET life.

>Vietnam was part of an ongoing effort to contain communism.
>The gulf war was the Bush family's response to shit talking by saddam hussain. The Bush family is an oil family, oil recognizes oil. When Kuwait was invaded by hussian and KSA was threatened, they called on the US for assistance. Because we had an oil crisis in the early seventies, we wanted to make sure we didnt revisit such an event any time soon. So we intervened. So it was part Bush family, part oil interest.
As for the the boomers lives, really, life wasnt dramatically better than gen x or the following gens.
My real problem with the boomers is the earliest boomers were arrogant as fuck and failed to recognize real threats when they seen them. The japanese shouldve never defeated us economically the way they did between the mid 80 through the late 90s.
>>
I was born in mid 80's but think about the shit Gen Z is having to come to terms with.

>college is a leftist scam to get tens of thousands of dollars in debt for if you even get past affermitive action at all.
>decent jobs are few and far between even with college.
>rent is fucking obscene so you live paycheck to paycheck and can't save a fucking dime
>trying to be a man and have a relationship and maybe children but all the jews convinced the girls you know to be total whores or burners.
>due to no prospects any which way, hard drugs become popular
>grow up totally disconnected from everything because of social media

I'm not jealous at all of gen Z. They're fucked and going to just be pumped with SSRI for they're entire lives.
>>

>Vietnam was part of an ongoing effort to contain communism.
We also lost that war

>As for the the boomers lives, really, life wasnt dramatically better than gen x or the following gens.
It honestly was . The U.S was prosperous until the late 70s but even after the recession the economy massively improved. The 08 recession had no cure and it's still being felt today

>Vietnam to contain communism
It was to pick up a mess that belonged to French surrenderfags. And it failed anyway. Vietnam is communist. What's worse, over-spending on Vietnam is why we left the gold standard for worthless, constantly devaluing reserve notes. And now, in order to prop this worthless paper up, it's backed by crude oil. Enter: oil wars. And under Boomer mismanagement, we didn't even get the fucking oil.

>communism
You could better say that Reagan defeated it. He was born before WWI. Fact remains, most boomers haven't done shit except consume and perpetuate a dead, neoliberal order. And in the meantime, they gave America cultural Marxism, and mostly complained about the wrong government officials (e.g. all the Commies and Commie sympathizers in gov that used Vietnam as a way to kill off conservatives, without sending themselves to die).

If you have an in demand degree and don't have a good job chances are its your fault. You probably thought you were golden with a good GPA and a piece of paper saying you completed the courses. In reality almost anyone can do that shit with modern university standards, and whats even worse is that most jobs don't even 'really' require that wealth of knowledge. Like 95% of jobs can be done with a week of onsite training save the hardcore STEM professions. The smart people instead focused on networking and internships. Suck up to the right people in the right industries and you can talk your way into a job instead of relying on something that is quickly becoming the new baseline. Getting a degree doesn't mean you can do the job. They also want social people who can work in groups, engage in marketing, and hold presentations in all fields. The reason Chad Thundercock has a better job is because he knew the secret all along. Almost no job is actually hard technically.

By the time you find out you would still have time to change course and adapt. Who gets through university without catching on to what people are after? Of course the good jobs are behind the graduate school paywall. We both have good chances at med school.
>>
>>138675446
It's only low tier because of perspectives. The average bio student is light years ahead of the rest of the pack. They really are the only students as a whole doing college correctly, because they all want to be doctors.

Requirements:
>maintain high gpa
>do research
>be active in student groups / be tutors
>work/internships
>volunteer positions
>shadowing

And that's just to have less than a 1/10 chance of being interviewed, not even accepted.

Most degrees just require that you pass the fucking class to be "good", only med school hopefuls go through the grinder
>>
>>138675304
That sounds like a good idea, actually. Where did you hear of that?

>>138675446
I know nurses make good money, but fuck being a nurse. I considered working in a hospital lab but they require further qualification, you handle urine and feces, and the pay is basically the same.

>>138675195
The problem is that the bar is constantly being raised despite there not being a need for it for most existing jobs. More and more youth are being told they have to go to college to be successful. That they have to go to graduate school and even pursue a PhD. Eventually college will become the new high school, but the requirements and curriculum will become as weak as that of high schools. Meanwhile people are forced to pay an ever increasing amount for this nigh mandatory process (or so they're told).

No one is going to GIVE you a decent life faggot. You have to EARN it. Everyone walks into an interview "gimme gimme gimme gimme". What you are really trying to do is boil it down to this "I will generate money for your company, with my skillset I will produce more than the other 10 guys that came in here today."

The anon in question already has the hard part done with the engineering degree. He just needs to stop being a faggot and go to some meetups or meet people in the field. He has no social capital or capabilities it seems.

illegals seem to be doing pretty well, why is that exactly? I'm not supporting them so don't take that wrong, but I'd truly like to know why so many citizens are becoming drug addicts while people who can't even speak English are flourishing. Have people just lost hope? Is the support for mestizo scum to come in and outbreed us that much greater? Why not? Nearly all job positions have hundreds of people competing for it. Why should they hire you over the others just because you claim you're hot shit and are the best person for the job? Everyone who walked in the door probably said that. They can't hire you just because you want it and say you can do it. They need proof and thats where experience, networking, and interning come into play.

Engineers have the same basic requirements, employers just aren't as stringent. Jobs don't just fall into engineers laps either. I basically need 4 out of 6 of those requirements, interships/work experience and good gpa being mandatory if you don't want to be dead end.

The red pill on job listings is that it only represents 10% if that of the real job market. The vast majority of hiring is done through networking, as employers don't want to take the risks of employing a stranger so always take somebody on recommendation instead of a virtual unknown.

Of those 10% ads, maybe 3% are fake ads, posted as requirements for H1B compliance. They have no intention of hiring anybody, just need to have them up all the time so they can claim "Waaah! Nobody is qualified we need to import foreign workers!" such as Faceberg with their like hundred job listings that are never filled or even changed. To get into Faceberg they always recruit on campus, or poach somebody from a diff company. Same with Netflix, ect.

Finally the remainder of those jobs are either bait and switch, so a recruiter faking you out and offering a shit position once they bait you, or a bot that simply filters your resume looking for certain indicators, and like 10,000 people apply to every job (post one and find out yourself) so good luck.

btw if anybody here is a NEET, and they want free school (and they are American) then you can attend LambdaSchool virtually F/T during the day and to pay them back after they "assist" you in getting a job in the industry they take a 3% cut of your wages for awhile. It's much better than the other way around, where you borrow money, and then are paying it forever because of Jewish interest rates theiving. https://lambdaschool.com/courses#cs

>>138680041
You're right, it depends on the engineering. I'm a senior MechE student and it is not "just math dude." We have to know a little more than the basics of most other engineering fields and everything that has to do with energy being moved. Then, comes design work, material knowledge and have a quality amount of programming knowledge.

If being an engineer is a one trick pony, then what is a doctor? You guys are basically good chemists who study the human body like a machine.
>>
>>138654619

>pay off your home in less than 4 years.

>>138680434
There's nothing wrong with it and you can live a nice lifestyle with little money if you have no constant consumerist expenses.
But we're a planet of indoctrinated consumers who keep on buying and buying.
I think that the raw and rampant consumerism exist mainly because people are trying to plug that empty hole inside themselves with stuff.
They identify with businesses and products, because they don't have identity of their own.
They buy things so they can become "popular" online and get those delicious thumbs up from others.
I believe it's a lack of direction, hobbies, purpose and future that causes this.
There's only the moment for young people and the only momentary joy comes from going to the store and buying the latest iPhone.

This is why I think that people who drop out of the society and go full NEET or self employed are the most sensible people around.
They do whatever they themselves want to do and don't get into that "maximize profit and consume!" lifestyle.

If you're okay with an average or meager quality of life then no you don't need to be an educational tryhard by any means. However, if you LOVE being an engineer, do that because that's better than money.

People laughed at me when I got my English Literature and History degrees. They told me I was an idiot, and I'd never be able to find work.

Started freelancing in college, editing people's theses and dissertations, academic papers, things like that. When I graduated, I convinced one of my clients, a software developer, to hire me on as a technical writer.

Making $95K after five years, and come October, I'll be bumped up another 5%.

To get a decent office job, literally all you have to do is have a skill they need, cram your foot in the door, and be good at what you do. Then stick with it and grow with the company.

Technical writing isn't that hard. Anyone who can read can learn it. You just have to have impeccable grammar skills and be able to research the shit you don't understand. I'm writing whitepapers about algorithms and user manuals for things I don't understand.

Point is that STEM is a meme for a lot of people. Unless you're a woman or some minority, the next generation isn't going to have a future in STEM. They're going to have to move to the humanities. There IS work there, you just have to learn how to find it.
>>
>>138654729
STEM degrees only gain usefulness when you decide to get a masters or PhD. Besides that you got conned into believing you could get into med school or something. The "STEM shortage" is just a scheme to depress salaries in the STEM field. Time and again there have been "shortages" but they have never gone away nor has our lack of correcting them negatively affected the economy.

>I fell for it too. Just got my MSc in Biotech though. Filling out job apps. Easy to get in since a master's is equivalent to 2 years of working plus a bachelor's.

> lie your tits off on your resume about schooling and job experience, just make sure you can do what you claim you know how...or just be the best bullshit artist in the room

Seriously, I didn't start getting phonecalls the last time I looked for a job before this last one I got screwed at until I "jazzed up" my resume.

Oh, and the smaller the place (mom and pop shop, etc.), the easier it is to generally pull this off, because they're way more likely to not check your background very well.

Remember guys, it's not impossible to find a good job, you just gotta be a good liar and know your job well enough to fool everyone that needs to be fooled.

Thanks to lying and years of hands on with servers and networks, I make 83K a year...and I never even went college, unless you look at my resume.

Nice. If I ever do get back into the workforce, I'd to ESL in South East Asia. The requirements are set in stone, like actually robust. Also, there is an actual shortage, not a "we didn't get 300+ applications!" shortage, for white English speakers. It helps that I'm used to homeless living conditions, so SEA is an improvement. Good luck with the biotech in America.

When I was in highschool I worked P/T at this rigging shop. The dirty redneck guy, who was the head rigger, told me numerous stories how he just faked his way into jobs his whole life.

He once posed as a diesel mechanic and then would be reading the book under the truck all day trying to figure out what to do. He also faked his way into the rigging shop but then read literally everything there was to know about rigging immediately after being hired and rose from the guy sweeping the shop and cutting lengths to being the head rigger. It can be done, half the Bush admin did it if I recall with phony degrees

Solidity is the big one at the moment with all the ICO's going on. Also, C++ is still the bread and butter since that's what btc is written in.

Best advice I can give you though is to go to as many blockchain events/meetups/gatherings as you can. You will be only a couple of layers away from all sorts of founders/VCs/CEOs etc etc. I was too young but people say its very reminiscent of internet mid 90's or the early PC days.

As luck would have it, I just happen to be a self-taught IT guy who really knows his shit and has 20+ years of experience.

I went to a tech school for IT (only for the piece of paper and it was free thru a scholarship), but it sure as fuck wasn't college, and to give you an idea how good I was...they made me the afternoon instructor after I basically walked in, seen the curriculum and told them to just hand me the final so I can get this shit over with, and passed it the first time around with a 93%.

I've been doing IT related shit since I was 12, so I got somewhat lucky with getting a huge headstart on the technology, which diff sets me apart from most.

The vast majority of young people calling themselves "Techs" these days are fucking idiots that have barely any fucking clue what they're doing, which makes people like me that much more valuable.

LambdaSchool's website says they take 17% for two years if you make $50k+. If you make $55k, that's about 10 grand a year. $20k for 6 months of online education is a lot of money, more if you get a higher paying job. Plus there's opportunity cost of attending 6 months full-time (I make only $37k/yr, with benefits, so that means I'd lose another $18k and would be without insurance. Though that's before taxes.)

I'm still considering it, but if they think I can do it in 6 months of training, maybe I can just train myself.

Plus tech is in a bubble.

are you actually saying immigrants will want lower wages then whites if they move here? they'll want HIGHER wages if they need to go through the trouble to be legal. Only illegal immigrants will settle for lower wages, because the money they save on taxes evens out, plus if they start moving here legally guess what? their countries will actually try harder to keep them! such as long as we preserve our natural land, immigration should not be an issue if it's legal. but I do see why you'd be against that because our state governments are very greedy and have cut down a good many trees for that reason. but that's not immigrations fault.

I'm not saying it will make them richer, I'm just saying it won't make them poorer. It will just decrease tax dollars from the countries immigrants are fleeing from, and the economy will be the same because the individuals will need the same as everyone else and will provide that to eachother like everyone else already is. the issue is systematic not by race. If enough people leave a country that country will want to improve: so they'll improve because they're losing people. the issue is resources though. which I understand you wish not to waste.

The fact most of them take exact 4 years to complete shows they're mostly filler. Lots of useful knowledge, but you won't remember 80% of them after you're done. People learn things by doing them, so they get to learn their trade only when they get an internship.

One solution for you would be to study something you enjoy doing (which doesn't include fapping and larping as a nazi), assuming you have any semblance of talent in you. you dont need 300k unless youre in NY or DC or CA somehwere, go to a growing midsize city, work on houses in your off hours while you have a full time job to pay the bills. live in your first couple flips and you'll have enough tools, intel, and capital after 2-3 years to quit your other job and do it full time. it helps to have side money coming in though, maybe keep some PT job or work for hire 1-2 months between each 5-6 month flip.
Your side work comes with a 1099 or w2, you pay taxes on it but banks count it as income; your flips are schedule a, you dont pay payroll taxes and can pay less than 10% marg rate even making 75k annually, but its good to have a mix of both to show lenders
