Plato's Republic along with a few other books changed my life. Don't exactly look at it as "the perfect republic" as he describes it but look at all the areas that he addresses as well as justice, religion, and the soul. Audiobook is the way to go for this although I do own the book. I highly suggest listening to all of Plato's dialogues and reading all of Aristotle as well.
