Sacramento here. The sun was as bright as ever- it wasn't like it was night time in the day. I just used 8 pairs of sunglasses and glanced at the eclipse for a few moments. It was nothing special.

there's a reason people try to see the full eclipse, the partial ones only block out a little bit of light, so it looks the same, only a bit dimmer out
I got cloud coverage, but it was thin enough to block most of the light, so I managed to get away without any special glasses
I managed to use my a6000 as a lens to dim it enough when clouds weren't covering it
>>138498298
It was much better for us spacefags.

Very underwhelming. Not worth the hype

same here. Where I am it was supposed to be around 98%, but it was bright out during the whole thing and through the glasses all you could barely see anything. Don't know what all the hype was about.
My whole city lost power I repeat my whole city lost power. This has never happened before ITS HAPPENING

But it was kind of cool when the animals quieted down like it was about to be night time. Or maybe that was because it sounds like there was some thunder rolling around within earshot.

Albuquerque sucked. 340 beaming sunny days a year and today it was overcast with a few raindrops. just few breaks in the clouds, the 73% coverage was OK but even then a wispy cloud would come within 1 minute. It was exactly worth the 6 dollar glasses and 5 minutes of total viewing time.
>>138498298
It was interesting, like wearing sunglasses without actually wearing them. Then it looked like the sunset at full eclipse. The mailman had to turn his lights on. The temperature dropped. People set off fireworks and cheered. Then the clouds rolled in.

Got darker yet the sun still shined. It was weird, like the sun was wearing sunglasses for a few minutes.
Southwest NC here. Was clear right up until ~15 minutes before totality. Then clouds. Sad!
The first noticeable change was that the temperature dropped at first, slightly then suddenly like 20 degrees, then roosters began cawing, street lights came on and it was very apparent that it was getting dark very drastically.
>>138498298
It got dark here in southeast Kentucky.
Dark enough for the automatic lights to turn on. I'd compare it to 8pm on a July evening.
>>138504686
The temp drop was pretty rad, but I wonder how much of that was just the cold front moving through. I guess probably the eclipse encouraged it.

You've got to be at least marginally close. I was in Alabama like 100 miles away from totality and it was like 90%, you still can't look directly at it or anything, but with eclipse glasses you could clearly see a nice crescent.

That's because the media wanted you to think it was something that it wasn't and almost everyone fucking believed it.
Only thing cool about it was the eerie daylight that preceded totality. You don't ever see that except seeing something kind of like it rarely as a sign of catastrophic weather on its way.
I just threw an IR filter on the camera and fired off a couple of shots just to see what I could get. I'm more impressed seeing a harvest moon or Venus in near total daylight (or Mercury at all) than I am by an eclipse.

>>138502031
It would have only been disappointing for them if it was so cloudy they couldn't see it at all. It was actually really cool, even if we couldn't see it for very long because of the storms. Getting so dark quickly was really one of the best parts of it. I only had to drive an hour south to be in the middle of the totality, definitely worth it.

Pol is always right, except with happenings that have dates attached to them. Those never happen. Sept 23 will also be a big nothingburger.
>>138498298
MA resident here gotta say it was disappointing but a jew and his senpai let me use his special glasses so point goes to gods chosen people on that one, should prob toss a bit of holy water on the face later

>Houston only got 1/2 the sun covered up
Cool I guess.
>>138512239
Happenings are happening right now man.
>>138498298
Tampa FL here and honestly I thought it was pretty cool. I wasn't expecting to not be able to see my hand in front of my face like most of you so my expectations were tame. It was 80% covered according to weather.com and while you couldn't notice an obvious change, it was noticable. It was considerably cooler leading up to the mostly covered stage than it usually is in FL at 2:45 in August - we went outside and stood in the sun and it didn't feel like your flesh was cooking like usual. And if you could get a good look at the sun with a decent viewer it was pretty cool.
8/10 overall, better than anticipated
>birds still haven't come back
O-ok

I love right outside the special zone in Oregon and it was pretty gay I expected it to look like the eclipse in dark souls 3, all foreboding and shit but it just made everything look like I was wearing sunglasses

UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Got cloudy right before it was supposed to cover the most.
>>138498298
Awesome in South Carolina.
But the partial eclipse isn't even that intresting, its total that is exciting
>>138513627

I'm disappointed. I started straight at it and Sieg Heil'd but didn't gain any magic nazi powers.
My eyes hurt tho, stupid Sonnenrad
>>138498298
NASHVILLE HERE
Oh wow it was amazing, I'm going to be talking about this for years and will probably tell all of my children and grandchildren about it. Good thing I got plenty of photos and sat in traffic for 3 hours but GOD it was amazing, I was actually an atheist before I saw it but GOD DAMN it was like jesus was up there and winked at me and it changed my life and America's life and if you missed it WOAH you missed out buddy, it will never happen again!

The center of the X is Carbondale, IL.
Went to school there for awhile.
It was cloudy here in Houston

>>138510214
>>138498298
Totality was boring as shit desu
>>138513650
I live further north in Oregon, and only about half of the sun was eclipsed. Some parking cover lights turned on, and everything looked spooky.
NY here, with the glasses it was incredible, never seen anything like it
friendly reminder that staring into the eclipse has the same radiation strength as staring at a nuclear explosion.
>>138498298
Sucked.
>>138498298
It wasn't a total eclipse where I live so I didn't really bother. Seven years from now a total eclipse is going to pass by though, so I'll check it out then if possible.
>>138514326
It's literally right next to it homie.
>>138514496
how would it be any different than being in the sun normally dingus?
>>138514496

>nazis start marching in America
>a literal fucking black sun manifests all over the country
>>138514641
you know why magnifiying glass on a hot day can burn ants or eggs? The moon is the magnifying glass, and you are the egg.
>>138514326
same here. full of niggers. live near chester. best view ever.
I got a pretty good one.
>>138513941

thousands of people have been meditating for peace today
Was in Guthrie Kentucky, even though I could have viewed the totality from my back yard.
sunset here. the sun looked like a horn when the bottom half was covered
>>138498298
>>138514790
>a giant rock is the same as a lens
that would maybe make sense if the moon had an atmosphere to diffract the light or something.
>>138498298
I saw the eclipse appear in each shadow of a tree. Shit was cash, it made the shadows change shape to crescents.
>>138498975
Where the fuck were you? There was great visibility in soho. Eclipse happened literally atop WTC.
>>138514881
It wasn't much different from me, I'm from Decatur... Which is where I saw the eclipse. Was bretty nice.
>>138498298
The San Francisco Bay Area was mostly overcast, not a clear view for miles.
>>138510024
>SF is shrouded in clouds
>Middle America has a clear line of sight
Noice
The eclipse wasn't real
It was just a trick to get everyone to look at the same point while the NSA measured our pupiliary response from an NRO satellite hidden in the sun's glare
Dont' believe the pictures of a "Black Sun".

>>138498298
Saw the total eclipse. Probably one of the most epic things I've seen in my entire life. Like a cheesy cosmic psychedelic painting but real life.
>>138498298
