Yes, this was obviously the point of her character possibly created solely to become the Mad Queen, but the people in charge of the show are bullshitting their way into keeping her alive, despite the personality hints. Stannis was meant to stay alive until the end, but the writers missed the point of being the cold king they needed but didn't deserve, and killed him off as a crazy burner man. Tyrion went from being this grey good guy to a clear black and white good guy with no flaws. The first few seasons were kinda cool because they portrayed the struggle between different feudal houses in a sort of naturalistic settings, without boring predictable manichaean bullshit and plot armor. Then along came the crew of stronk independent womyn leaders, cucks and eunuchs who are clearly the "good guys" and who are protected by plot armor even if they make retarded decisions. All the ideas of legitimate succession and religious authority are thrown out the window as well. The show is unwatchable for me post Tywin's death.

Not everyone believes in the white walkers.
The last time the White Walkers invaded (Before the wall was built) was thousands of years ago. It's pretty much a myth by this point.
The Night's Watch, which was designed to guard the realm from the White walkers, is instead now treated as a "Get out of jail free" card, and a useful tool to get rid of unwanted sons and idiots (i.e. Samwell Tarly, and Tyrion Lannister), so when the Night's Watch tried to warn about them several times, they were ignored.

The wall itself is magic. It prevents White Walkers from passing. However, now that they have a dragon, they can just melt the wall.

Melisandre is actually like 300 years old. There was a scene when she took off her amulet, and she turned from the busty sexy lady that she is into a literal naked grandma with the lowest hanging flaps I have ever seen.
Anyway, they can also set their swords on fire briefly. In the show, they cut their hands and use blood, but in the books they just coated their swords with Wildfire.
Another thing to keep in mind was that Dragons are connected to magic. When dragons died out, magic died out. So magic has been dead for about 200 years (besides the usual magician tricks), but now that Dragons came back, the wizards can actually do some real bad shit.
Look up Pyat Pree. Some of the things that one guy does is create 13 clones of himself, disappear and reappear and fake his death with no issue.

In the books, they describe that the Warlocks basically had no powers except minor magician tricks before the dragons came back.
Also, the closer to the dragons you are, the more power you get. That's why in the show, the Warlocks try to capture Dany and keep her prisoner with her dragons. So they can "Feed" off the dragons.
