I was a USMC officer. Attained the rank of Captain and left for the civilian world. Anything beyond Major becomes political. For the most part, most military personnel are conservative and absolutely despise affirmative action bullshit. At OCS you can get boarded three times. The boards determine if you are fit to be a USMC officer. I was low-key and middle of the road, so I wasn't on the radar, thus I avoided these boards. That said, there were blacks that wouldn't be fit to wash dishes and somehow they were pushed through. Several off them failed the water confidence course.
