No. All initial colonization attempts are half-assed nonsteps. Putting people on mars is nothing but FIRST signalling.

If we want to colonize other planet we'll do it the right way. Technology and machines for terraforming, drones, robots, etc.

It would probably take about 20-25 suicide missions to build the base in OP pic.
Also these throwaway people would have to be HIGHLY qualified and trained to build that with severely limited resources and time.

The same could be said about ships to the New World when that was first discovered. The trip was dangerous, expensive and long but as technology improved all of those problems were diminished, this will happen with Mars too. Also, it won't all be payed for by one individual as many people will be transported at once since the transfer window only happens every two years.

How can you explain the Midnight Sun?

https://youtu.be/LjvtmzbEgm8

>During Arctic summer, from the 22nd to the 25th of June, at a high enough latitude and altitude, you can watch a phenomenon known as “the Midnight Sun” where the Sun stays
continuously visible in the sky for 3 days straight! The “Midnight Sun” rises on the 22nd and for the next 72 hours never disappears from sight, slowly ascending and descending
every 12 hours, showing 3 brilliant “sunsets” and “sunrises” without ever actually setting below the horizon. If the Earth were actually a spinning globe revolving around the Sun, the only place such a phenomenon as the Midnight Sun could be observed would be at the poles. Any other vantage point from 89 degrees latitude downwards could never, regardless of any tilt or inclination, see the Sun for 24 hours straight. To see the Sun for an entire revolution on a spinning globe at a point other than the poles, you would have to be looking through miles and miles of land and sea for part of the revolution! Anyone below the 89th parallel could never witness the Sun for 72 hours, 3 whole revolutions, straight because to

do so would be to assume you are somehow seeing “through the globe” and to the Sun on the other side! Since such an assumption is ridiculous, and yet the Midnight Sun can clearly be seen as low as the 65 parallel, this is another absolute proof that Earth is the flat, stationary center of the universe.

Because during those summer events the entire polar region is tilted toward the sun, for the same reason the opposite pole in winter is tilted away from the sun and it never rises

I never understand why flat earthers don't just buy a boat and go visit the edge. Surely there's would be something exploitable about approaching the worlds rim in whichever fucking model they are using. Weird magnetic shit, access extra continents, hidden civalizations, lost technology, magical space elephants, skyglass fragments, 'magical materials', a nice photo op?

Instead they seemingly spend all of their time trying to 'enlighten' those they deem deceived by a vast global conspiracy. The sort of vast global conspiracy that would be totally willing to end your life (literal or social) if they thought you were significantly making headway in demolishing their grand illusion?

Seriously, what's supposed to be in it for them? 'Knowing' the earth is round or flat doesn't significantly alter the life of these masses.

The math is 8(miles squared)
or
8in.(distance in miles^2)

Which means to take the square root of the distance traveled in miles and then multiply that figure by eight inches.

So for example, if you traveled one mile, the formula would look something like this;

8(1×1) = 8 Inches of total curvature

And for the first ten miles traveled of curvature in inches…

8(1×1) = 8 Inches of total curvature
8(2×2) = 32 Inches of total curvature
8(3×3) = 72 Inches of total curvature
8(4×4) = 128 Inches of total curvature
8(5×5) = 200 Inches of total curvature
8(6×6) = 288 Inches of total curvature
8(7×7) = 392 Inches of total curvature
8(8×8) = 512 Inches of total curvature
8(9×9) = 648 Inches of total curvature
8(10×10) = 800 Inches of total curvature

From the height shown, we should see some form of curvature. WE SEE NONE!

Because physics is a hard (read: the hardest) science.
We have very high standards of proof and very mathematically sophisticated theories and we settle for nothing less than a grand unified theory.

The Newtonian equation for gravitation makes fabulously useful predictions, e.g. ballistics.

General relativity (a slightly more sophisticated model) explains the time lag that must be accounted for to make GPS work. It also predicts the gravitational waves which now have been observed.

Loop quantum gravity explains god knows what, but there are people much smarter than you or me working on it.

I should be thinking north-south. If two people in Santiago, Chile and Halifax, Canada both looked at the sun at noon they'd both see it in approximately the same position in the sky, in spite of the fact that they're 8,700km away from each other.

Agreed.

How many times has the distance of the sun changed?

>NASA's astronomical figures always sound perfectly precise, but heliocentrists have historically been notorious for regularly and drastically changing them to suit their various models. For instance, in his time Nicolas Copernicus calculated the Sun’s distance from Earth to be 3,391,200 miles. The next century Johannes Kepler decided it was actually 12,376,800 miles away. Issac Newton once said, “It matters not whether we reckon it 28 or 54 million miles distant for either would do just as well!” How scientific!? Benjamin Martin calculated between 81 and 82 million miles, Thomas Dilworth claimed 93,726,900 miles, John Hind stated positively 95,298,260 miles, Benjamin Gould said more than 96 million miles, and Christian Mayer thought it was more than 104 million! Nowadays they have settled around 93 million for the time-being.

Mars colonization? You're funny bro. The world is becoming venezuela.

Everyone distracted with social/gender/race issues, and with endless distractions the Internet provide + diversity quotas in NASA + less and less males pursuing engineeing degrees. There's just no way nowadays.

The closest humanity has ever been to colonize Mars (and still pretty fucking away from it) was USA/Russia during the 1960s.
>>
>>138287716
Everyone seems to agree NASA will never accomplish anything again

Thankfully the new space race is a new dick measuring contest between two 21st century superpowers- the Amazon guy and the PayPal guy.

Sure. This is one of the few things I would hope would have a 1:1 gender quota, maintaining that is going to be critical . Its not like its the new world and there will be women on the other side. That or send lots of faggots.

how can the earth be flat yet have have two celestial poles that are visibly different?
oh, it can't. it's almost as if it's a sphere... spinning along an axis that has two poles where the direction of rotation are opposite of eachother...

about the "flying through space, stars should change position", THEY DO. different seasons -> different constellations, since the earth has rotated to another side of the sun.
yes, our entire solar system is traveling too around the centre of the galaxy at about 200 km per second. however, the CLOSEST star (most are WAY further) is 4.25 light years away, or 4*10^13 km. let's put that into perspective. let's say the "star" is a building 1km away from you. how fast is our solar system traveling then? it would take 200000000 seconds or OVER 6 YEARS to move a SINGLE METER. would your perspective of the building 1km change if you stepped 1m to the side? no. would your perspective change each night if you moved that 1 meter in 6 YEARS? not a single bit.

read a fucking book, son. look up at the fucking sky. travel the world. use your head.

I'm a bit more pessimistic than you. These two guys accomplished great things, but space race is incredibly expensive, not something that private funds can support.

But even in a deeper level than that, I believe that we'll see deterioration in the quality of the services every tech company in Sillicon Valley provides, and less innovation too. Why? Because this is not the 90s or 2000s anymore, all-pervasive diversity quotas, affirmative action agendas in these places will dilute real talent, and will also remove the focus of innovation onto social causes.

Aside from that, and maybe even more worrying, two trends are emerging: companies becoming more "greedy" and looking for money in exchange for less and less quality in exchange for their services and products, and people becoming more and more distracted, leading to less innovative thinking, less attention to detail, etc. A recipe for disaster.

I'd be surprised if Musk accomplishes his Hyperloop project.

>NASA and modern astronomy say the Earth is a giant globe spinning 1,000 mph around its central axis, traveling 67,000 mph circles around the Sun, spiraling 500,000 mph around the Milky Way, while the entire galaxy rockets a ridiculous 670,000,000 mph through the Universe, with all of these motions originating from an alleged “Big Bang” cosmogenic explosion 14 billion years ago. That’s a grand total of 670,568,000 mph in several different directions we’re all supposedly speeding along at simultaneously. No one has ever seen, felt, heard, measured or proven such motion, yet the vast majority of people unquestioningly accept that the clearly motionless Earth beneath their feet is actually moving over six hundred million miles per hour!

you did not respond to my argument.
also you don't "feel" the motion of an airplane cruising at several hundreds of km/h. you only feel g-forces aka acceleration aka change in velocity. the velocities you stated do not change in any significant way from day to day, thus there are no g-forces to "feel".

The north pole has a giant magnetic mountain, which is my compasses point north as well.

I said south
the stars do not rotate around polaris on the southern hemisphere, they rotate around the south pole. if you go towards this _point_ in the sky that the southern stars rotate around, you will always end up going towards antarctica. your compass will always indicate this direction as south, since it is the magnetic south pole of the earth. antarctica "surrounds" this point that acts as the southern pole.

people far down in the southernmost points of australia and south america will be able to see the same stars in southern direction at the same time in winter, despite those places being as far apart as possible on your "true map".

there are two poles. it's a sphere.

>Another favorite “proof” of ball-Earthers is the appearance from an observer on shore of ships’ hulls being obfuscated by the water and disappearing from view when sailing away towards the horizon. Their claim is that ship’s hulls disappear before their mast-heads because the ship is beginning its declination around the convex curvature of the ball-Earth. As usual, however, their hasty conclusion is drawn from a faulty premise, namely that only on a ball-Earth can this phenomenon occur. The fact of the matter is that the Law of Perspective on plane surfaces dictates and necessitates the exact same occurrence. For example a girl wearing a dress walking away towards the horizon will appear to sink into the Earth the farther away she walks. Her feet will disappear from view first and the distance between the ground and the bottom of her dress will gradually diminish until after about half a mile it seems like her dress is touching the ground as she walks on invisible legs. The same happens with cars speeding away, the axles gradually get lower and the wheels vanish until it appears as if the car is gliding along its body. Such is the case on plane surfaces, the lowest parts of objects receding from a given point of observation necessarily disappear before the highest.
