It was more about who was originally planned to show up for the rally than the people who actually did. Originally, there were more members of the white supremacist groups that showed up in Charlottesville planned to appear and speak. But as the week went on and it was becoming clear what was actually going to happen, they backed off. So what ended up actually happening was more of a show of solidarity from the left, with a few people who did show up with Trump hats or "white is right" shirts and shit like that getting chased off pretty much immediately.

Despite the amount of people that showed up on the side of the counter-protesters, not much actually ended up happening negatively. A few dumbasses went and got into fights with cops and got arrested, but out of something like 40,000 people, 27 getting arrested and no meaningful injuries or property damage (according to the press conference statements made by the Chief of Police after people had started leaving) is actually quite good. Honestly, 30 or so arrests for something like 20,000 people is a pretty small amount. The police chief said there weren't any significant injuries or property damage, either. Some dumbasses got into fights with cops, but otherwise it was pretty peaceful. Definitely way, way better than Charlottesville went, that's for damn sure.

I actually would've been against you and on the side of the counter-protesters if I did go, but I figured the rally turnout was going to be pretty insignificant, it was going to be crowded as fuck, and it was hot as balls out today. I was better off just running errands and grocery shopping instead while everyone was busy elsewhere. Besides, the people who were originally planning on going that I had an actual issue with cancelled, so the rally itself was no longer of any concern to me.

Antifa were being dicks, as usual, but that's to be expected at this point. From what I could tell, most people who were there that weren't antifa were peaceful.The cops actually did a very good job from what I could see, although a few people did get knocked around.
