The media is more pervasive due to technology, but the Internet allows the dissenmination of more varied opinions than ever before.
There is no way normies would've caught on to memes in the 80s, for example, and yet they do now.

Also, the mass media's abysmal journalistic standards and hysterical tone are turning people off, and legacy media is being ignored by the younger generations.

As for the demographics, it varies from place to place. Some paeticularly stupid parts of the West will be lost, others will be ethnically cleansed. Keep in mind that the current national borders are unlikely to remain as they are. Balkanization might occur in many places. Unification in others. Conquest in others.

When you look at projections for 2050, keep in mind that political geography might look very different by then, and therefore the projections might be irrelevant.
