Speaking as someone with many contacts in both camps, its very difficult to imagine conservatives being more unhappy than liberals.

Conservatives are simply people who think the government should have a big rulebook governing it's powers, a short leash and a light purse, and that free people will accomplish everything else under thier own steam. The history of the 19th through 21st centuries has proven them right again and again.

The Liberals all belive that they're on a journey to progress. They've won many elections and got thier way more often than not across the western world in the last 20 years. Do they seem happy with what they've accomplished? Do they think theyve built a great society? Do they even like themselves? Not really, they scream and shout at every turn. They belive every question put to them is an existential crisis, and lose thier minds over it. They are so afraid of the strength of other peoples ideas, symbols and success that they delude themselves into thinking everyone who disagrees with them (no matter how mild the issue) is evil.

Who do you honestly think is happier?
