We should force them to skip over all the confederate generals and go straight to the top and address this man who owned slaves his entire life and never did one thing to reduce slavery. He freed them in his will meaning that as long as he lived he wanted to own black people. All that crap about why he couldn't free them while he was alive makes no damn sense if they could be freed once he had no further use for them.
We should make everyone on CNN and MSNBC and HuffPo take a stance on this slave owner and whether or not his name should be on the nation's capital city, which is full of descendants of slaves.
Hilarity will ensue as they try to nuance this one. Either you are for slavery or you are against it.

At some point you have to shit or get off the pot. They are saying that Trump supports nazis because he said some people who wanted the Lee statue to remain were decent people. We have to call their bluff and see just how far they will go to ease their liberal guilt.

We really won't reach that point. This tactic forces their hand, because it's the logical conclusion of white guilt, to go back as far as it takes to show that everything we've ever done is tainted because we were not perfect from day one.
The standard we hold whites to is ridiculous; it's been set so that we can only fail. "All whites are racist whether they are or not. All whites benefit from white privilege". Nonsense like that. Forcing the absurdity out into the open will at least be hilarious as we watch Anderson Cooper squirm.
Once we admit that everyone in history has been flawed in some way, maybe then we can start discussing the fact that maybe oh my can it be true just maybe those saintly POC might actually be flawed as well. And then we can address reality instead of make-believe.

It's what wikipedia says. They try to make his ownership of slaves not look so bad, while at the same time trying to claim that he thought slavery was wrong.
On his death, his wife freed his slaves but kept hers.
