Not only that, if you read the 13th amendment, we actually EXPANDED the institution of slavery. "But they are just prisoners" Who TF do you think got sold as slaves in the first place? PRISONERS. At least back in the 1800's it was the dregs of African society, usually defeated POW's. Today you can be enslaved for smoking a plant. Why does nobody bring this up? Not only do we have more modern day slaves in our own country (indentured servants if you want to be pedantic) but there are way more traditional slaves globally.
