I'm for ditching the Nazi baggage. It's important to stand up for what Germany did when discussing history and to knock down the demonization of NS Germany, but discussion of German and WWII history isn't necessary to anything we're trying to do today. It takes up a lot of time and energy that should probably be devoted to something more immediate. When has winning an argument about the war or about Hitler ever moved us forward?

Worst of all it blinds people to anything you may want to point out about Jewish tricks. Especially if you don't want to attack Jews as a race but focus on the banking system, the entertainment industry, or even Israel and AIPAC, the minute Hitler comes into this most people will automatically shut down. Even if you have already convinced them that the holocaust is in question and Germany wasn't out to conquer all of Europe, the connection is almost automatic: "This guy hates Jews because of their hook noses and their privilege, and everything else he says is going to be come from that, everything he thinks is assembled in service to the feeling of dislike for Jews."

Hitlers Germany was a great way to revive old tradition in the modern times. The way Hitler revived ancient concept makes his Reich a good example for following countries. At least for German ones. Look into the recent history of the region. A substantial part of what was Poland at the start of WW2 had been in the German Empire at the start of WW1. That area was full of ethnic Germans.

As the losers, Germans were blamed for WW1, despised and mistreated. That included Germans in the territory recently taken by Poland.

Hitler invaded Poland to retake the territory lost in WW1, and bring the Germans living in it back under sympathetic German rule, and also to prevent them from falling under Soviet rule.

Remember, the Soviets had already done worse than the Holocaust before WW2 started, had been steadily working their way across Europe since shortly after WW1, and they invaded Poland simultaneously with Germany. That was something that was going to happen with or without Germany.
