Why is /pol/ so contrarian?

In fact, the whole boards ideology is so easy to predict: Take whats popular, and the opposite of that is /pol/'s stance on the issue.

Its so predictable.

The mainstream opinion is always held by the majority. The majority is always stupid enough to be controlled by the elites. All you have to do is tell them that boogeymen are coming to do evil Nazi things and the message goes right around logic and into emotion, and then they behave emotionally.

The intelligent, examined opinion will ALWAYS be against the mainstream because the masses are easily controlled and the independent thinkers are always few in number.

Look at this IQ distribution. Realize that rational thought does not come online until somewhere between the 125 and 140 IQ range, and consistent, daily rational thought does not come online until above the 140 range. That's why the smartest opinions are always contrarian. Thinkers are few, and not easily led. The idiot masses are many, and always do what they're told.

I feel that Noah would be the one confronting the problem, while Trump would be the one blithely and arrogantly asserting that he doesn't need God or His chosen agent even when he knows for a fact that a great deluge is coming.

Perhaps he even doubts that God can create a flood. He certainly doesn't seem to have any tools on hand, or any other way of dealing with the flood.

Its actually quite simple if you have like 2 brain cells to rub together

There's a mainstream narrative. Lets just call it the narrative. Most people are completely braindead as to how this narrative gets made, but on a subconscious level people understand the point of the narrative is for everyone to share a common worldview. If you have a society in which people can't speak a shared moral language, you don't really have much of a society. The narrative is like any mythology in this regards.

But of course, Modern Person doesn't think of themself as being a believer in a mythology. We're scientific, educated. What differentiates our narrative from primitive ones is our experts are better, basically, and we leave the making of the narrative up to them and don't think too much about it otherwise.

The problem is some of us are indeed contrarian jackasses. We're not very sociable, its true, we're probably somewhere on the spectrum. But it beats just conforming to the narrative, yknow? Of course, it means when the narrative is right, we'll probably be wrong just out of perversity. But the opportunity exists for us to be right when the narrative is wrong, and that is both an incredibly powerful feeling and, inevitably, a very dangerous one.

But still, we actually like to see how the narrative gets made. We want to know what goes into all these blue pills we're supposed to swallow. And it turns out when you break the pills down what goes into them is a lot of bullshit. The big one for most people is race, because the issue is so unbelievably taboo inside the narrative and so unbelievably obvious once you're outside it, but there's any number of issues on which the narrative is held together not because of science or reason but because of politics

By nature, shmucks like us are going to drawn from the more antisocial lot. Socialites and joiners have too much riding on the narrative to fuck with it very much, and so they don't.

We, or at least I, only care about the truth. Have you noticed that the "SJWs" say the exact opposite of the truth? Ever hear anyone say that it's like we're living in bizarro world? Black criminal is the victim, whites are racist, it's a white supremacist system, oppressive patriarchy, rape culture, etc. That's the Jews'/Marxists' strategy and it's documented. So you've got it the wrong way around. Do you think all of the crazy social changes of the last century were normal and righteous? Humanity had been living one way (socially, not technologically) for thousands of years, since the dawn of time, really, and suddenly in less than 100 years everything is the opposite. We're right. The "Nazis" and "white supremacists" are/were right. It's time to fix this mess.

>implied
poor reading comprehension, IQ somewhere around 107.

What I said in my own words was this:
>The intelligent, examined opinion will ALWAYS be against the mainstream because the masses are easily controlled and the independent thinkers are always few in number.

I did not say that 100% of /pol/ is in this group. That's a strawman you made up to attack in the place of my actual argument. My actual argument was that contrarianism is not a sign of unexamined, emotional rebelliousness without critical reasoning, as was stated in the OP.

>Why is /pol/ so contrarian? In fact, the whole boards ideology is so easy to predict: Take whats popular, and the opposite of that is /pol/'s stance on the issue.

OP clearly states that 100% of /pol/ reaches its conclusions by looking at the mainstream and then going against it. He says "the whole board." He extends a generalization to the entire population and then ascribes them a single characteristic: "take what's popular, and the opposite of that is /pol/'s stance on the issue."

My argument is clearly made, and you haven't even addressed it because you're too stupid to understand it. Now go back to your entry-level corporate gig, you brainless drone.

Consensus does not mean something is good or right.

Instead of asking why we hate thing that are popular, instead what are the machinations making things popular, and what are the consequences for accepting it.

Only then do you reach truth. What is popular usually has an underlying agenda, and it's usually shit.

Music, art, policy making, and so much more in the social and political world is anti-white bullshit.
>>
>>137439742
Brilliant work. This is an example of a thinker. You didn't address my point that some people are contrarian because they choose to rise above control (and as rational thinkers, they also accept the parts of the narrative that they find to be valuable), but you very accurately described the non-thinking counter-culture aspect of the board without generalizing it and extending the generalization to everyone.

Interesting how people who disagree with you are always "paid" by Them or "work" for Them, never actually one of Them. People who disagree with you must be doing it for some benefit from a vague Them, rather than actually believe what they're saying.

I guess conspiracies do hold up better when you don't have to deal with the idea that the person disagreeing with you ACTUALLY disagrees with you.

Look, you want to know the actual truth? There's two ways to achieve a perfect world. One involves killing everyone who disagrees with you, and the other involves trying to change society and other people to agree with you and trying to create a broad consensus.

One of them takes an awful lot of time and effort and might not even be achievable, while the other is inherently self-destructive and is more likely to get you killed than produce the desired results.

You figure out which is which.
>>
>>137446037
Your first post was made specifically in reply to the OP, who asks "Why is /pol/ so contrarian". Your post then proceeds to say that intelligent opinion will always be against the mainstream opinion.

When someone assumed that your statement was made in reply to OP's question, you deny it, explaining that since you didn't specifically state that it was in reply to the question, it wasn't.

You are in the wrong, because conversations have context, and rely on context to work. If you ignore context, you're going against common sense. If someone asks "Why do party balloons fly up?" and you say "Hot air is less dense than colder air, and therefore rises above colder air", you'd be in the wrong even though your statement is technically correct.

Context doesn't work the way you think it does. What I said was that examined opinions will always be countercultural because thinkers are the only ones who CAN oppose the culture.
