Used to be like that in the 90s and 80s. It was common to see a scene in movies where some kid would shame other for hitting a kid with glasses. That whole phenomenon stopped existing suddenly sometime in the 2000s; I hadn't thought about it in over 10 years.

In a certain sense yes but we have it so that glasses are no longer an absolute necessity anymore. Thus why its not seen as that. Even so I'd make the argument that just because one wears glasses doesn't mean they are immune to consequences.
