Thatcher wasn't conservative. She literally introduced neoliberalism to the UK. She defeated the (one nation) conservatives, which is why 'conservative' neoliberalism is called "thatcherism". There are still conservative Tories, but they're a minority of the parliamentary party (despite being a majority of the membership)
