Could Hitler and/or possibly Goebbels be thought of as results of the continental philosophical tradition, specifically the existential parts of it? They seem very much in line with certain aspects of German idealism and also seem to have been influenced by Nietzsche/Stirner. However, they chose to find or construct their meaning in a different way, through collectivism and ethnic volkisch nationalism instead of radical individualism or the Ubermensch.
