Yeah North Korea is clearly escalating, but even if they wanted to they couldn't actually wipe the US off the map and end humanity like the USSR could.

Things are peaking, sure, but the peak won't be WW3 but mostly just some people realizing that actually everyone has been acting seriously insane for the last few years and it'd be best to just calm down. Take colleges for example. If everyone KNOWS that colleges are filled with crazy political people, they'll typically avoid these groups when they do go to college or they'll just go to a college where such groups aren't around. As a result, their presence on campuses will dwindle down as students graduate.
