Some people have geniune reasons to not join the military. If you do it out of political reasons, I don't think you should be jailed, I think you are simply a shitty human.

Even though I hated my time doing national service, I understood that I did enjoy the benefits of growing up and living in my country which other poor sods living in shitter countries do not get to enjoy and it was only fair i did my time to serve the nation.

That being said I don't get why most westerners are such ingrates when dealing with conscription . It's just a few years of your life to pay back for the opportunties you have been blessed with. Also you get to learn some useful life skills and learn how to be disciplined
