When the black sea was a fresh water lake, the entire coast could be irrigated and it was prime for agriculture. This caused a population explosion, an ability to select for traits that don't contribute to survival (blue eyes) and gave rise to the Celtic and Slavic people, who migrated both east and west, as well as south to establish the Hittite kingdoms. Those who migrated east spread their language and culture, essentially creating the illusion that this Slavic-Celtic people began closer to central Asia.

Later, Turkic tribes discovered animal herding and raised a lot of horses. Because they were dependent on the steppe biome, they migrated east and west continuously back and forth. This drove the Celtic people westward and subjugated the Slavic people. Because the Turks were culturally less advanced, they adopted Slavic culture, thus spreading it eastward even more so.

Note, this doesn't discredit a much earlier discovery of agriculture in the Levant, which happened for different reasons. Agriculture spread through Europe both north and south of the black sea.
