I don't think the liberals are the only ones against it. I don't see any republicans or right-wingers, or whatever would be the oppo to libs promoting thorium or fast breeder types, or any other types of nukhular power plants technologies that have existed for some 30 years now. It's just that it's commonly feared, missunderstood and yes, it carries some risk of disasters that make areas uninhabitable.
