Should the Upper Peninsula become it's own state, I was thinking it should be called "New Finland" since the majority of Americans up there are of Finnish descent. I've made a flag based off the state and make it similar to the Nordic flags.

>Early settlers included multiple waves of people from Nordic countries, and people of Finnish ancestry make up 16% of the peninsula's population; the UP is home to the highest concentration of Finns outside Europe and the only counties of the United States where a plurality of residents claim Finnish ancestry. The Finnish sauna and the concept of sisu have been adopted widely by residents of the Upper Peninsula. The television program Finland Calling was for a long period the only Finnish-language television broadcast in the United States; it aired on Marquette station WLUC-TV from March 25, 1962, until March 29, 2015.[59] Finlandia University, America's only college with Finnish roots, is located in Hancock.[60] Street signs in Hancock appear in English and Finnish to celebrate this heritage.
