*** Free Speech Crusader Milo Yiannopoulos Defends Right of ACLU to Defend Milo Yiannopoulos ***
Right-wing firebrand Milo Yiannopoulos is widely known for his views on feminism, Islam, and transgenderism. But these issues pale in importance for him when compared to his core belief in the principle of free speech.
That's why the 32-year old English media star has put the full weight of his company, MILO Inc., into a new ACLU lawsuit seeking to defend the right of Milo Yiannopoulos to advertise his book.
"The First Amendment is for everyone, not just straight white Americans. Just because Milo Yiannopoulos is a gay Jewish immigrant doesn't mean he should lose the protection of the Bill of Rights," said Mr. Yiannopoulos. "In standing up for Milo, the ACLU is standing up for people like me."
Yiannopoulos's vigorous defense of the ACLU came in the midst of a backlash against the organization by its own attorneys. However, ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio stated "The First Amendment is critical in protecting the ability of marginalized communities to protest, mobilize and build power."
Mr. Yiannopoulos, who is a gay Jewish immigrant engaged to an African-American man, could not agree more.
