Here and in other european countries professor is a title only given to senior academics at universities usually as part of a title, such that there are only few professors per department.

I went to Stanford (computer science). I am software engineer and an executive at a software company (that is not Google). I never had Marty Stemp, but I had dozens of other professors who were frothing liberal idiots when it came to their ideology. It was nauseating, but that is Stanford and, well, pretty much everything around it.

That said, it's nowhere NEAR as bad (or at least wasn't 20 years ago) as the bizzareoworld that is UC Berkley and from an education standpoint, it truly is an excellent school (I transferred from a well known, grossly overrated east-coast school).

As for this memo, everything in it is correct, but the messaging was pretty stupid. If one of my employees posted such a memo, he'd be looking at some serious time with HR (though I don't think what he did even remotely approaches the level of fireable offense unless this was a pattern of behavior). The workplace is simply not the right venue and, frankly, if you want to effect change in an organization, you need to put yourself in a position to actually do it, not stand on a soapbox (but many employees feel entitled to immediate change and don't understand that time and continuous effort is required).

In short, Stanford is a great school but even brilliant professors in their domain of expertise are complete cucked retards ideologically; the memo was right, but it wasn't the right way to message it if change was really desired, though he still shouldn't have been fired if he was an otherwise good employee.
