I don't think a draft is even possible in the US anymore. Resistance would be so violent and widespread that local police departments would refuse to carry out draft evasion arrests, and the military itself wouldn't have the time or resources to use its MPs for that purpose. If I were on a grand jury or a jury, I would automatically refuse to indict or convict on evasion charges anyway; I'm sure a lot of people feel the same. Nobody trusts the government enough anymore for something like this.
