Why is the depression culture so prevalent, /pol/ ?

It's making our youth depressed and the meme kids are pushing for it

Gen z here

It's because we learned too much too fast. We're the first generation to grow up in a world we're everything is front and center, mass shootings, wars, politics. We all realized too soon how truly ducked up the world is. Now to add onto that the millenials are in debt big time from college and no white kid or asain kid has a chance at scholarships because of bias. There's no more practical jobs you either have to be an engineer or somehow involved in programming. Something is going to break it's called the knock out game and white kids are tired of playing. So we have a big disparity of us either being far right or far left, literally there are no centrist in this generation

Because in the end nobody in this world gives enough fuck to solve your problems. They may look like it they may sound like it but in the end only you can solve it.

Depression is a hell of a drug to get hooked on goy. People say talking about it like its some glamorous thing that should be on the cover of Vanity Fair will help are fucking idiots. If you can't solve it, nobody else can. The only thing others do is throw advice at you on how THEY would solve it. I get a lot of advertisements for anti-depressants probably because of my demographics.

I treated my depression by discontinuing SSRIs, becoming sober, riding my bike daily, eating well, drinking plenty of water and going to bed on time.

I also flagged which people in my life were being niggers and have em the boot

Depression is the result of philosophical immaturity.

If you want to end your depression.
Start nofap and noporn lifestyle.
If you want a faster results, eat a fruit-based diet.
At least 50-60% fruits (meat are ok) as long as 60% of your diet is fruit.
Also cold showers dont do much. If you want good results from freezing, than take ice baths

I am pretty sure everybody somewhat hates their lives everywhere.

I have lived in 21 towns in 4 states, both urban and rural.

Most people are just trying to make ends meet and have a little fun in between. Very few people were striving to do something big, and even those people kinda hated their lives. Most rich kids who go on vacation to Italy every holiday are already nihilistic shells of a human who take anti-depressants and drink heavily.

Nobody is proud of anything happening in their culture and nothing exciting is happening either. It's just a bunch of bullshit.

In the past couple of years mental health has become a popular topic. Mental health issues are popular to discuss, debate and also have. To have one is to fit in with the trend.

>oh I feel sad
Depression
>I was happy now I feel sad
Bipolar
>I don't like sports despite being a guy
Tranny

These mental issues are easily relateable, so are highly exploitable in memes and such. For example you could say 'When you have to get up in the morning, but you don't know why you should because life is meaningless at the end of the day' with a picture of spongebob pressing 'snooze' would be very popular.

It is a trend, like 'man-buns' or being a faggot

Because there is hopelesness and alienation everywhere. Everything has been accomplished. There are no more worthy goals to pursue. Each corner of the world has been discovered and settled. There is nothing left but vapid commercialism that seeks to make everybody better off than traditional white men. And we are excluded of that new world that progressives and non-whites are building for themselves, in their own little bubble. Understand that there is no point anymore in toiling at college if a degree is worthless and everyone goes for one too. Understand that there is no point toiling learning a trade either when quotas and immigrants and the crisis will rob you of what you earn, and when your status will be degraded by the elite caste.

The music, the culture, the movies, it's all meaningless and vapid entertainement pushed by a cabal of big, conglomerates. Everything has been politicized too. There is no mainstream, traditional good at which we can cling. For me, there is no strong family unit or clean orderly house to come back to.

And the sex. It's absolutely everywhere, yet it lacks love. And when we attempt to get one or the other, we fail. I failed to build a meaningful connection with the woman I loved. My first true love - not your college crush - is gone, preffering to look out for herself and attend a better university. She's ran me into the ground, denying me her love, denying herself the love I could give her. Nothing to do with politics this time, but the intrinsic bitterness of this world.

Melancholy is as another poster said, the best escape. I long for a time - the 80s and what came before - when the remnants of the traditional world were still alive. And for most of us, we've been raised with the mainframe of this world. A world in which we'd be happy, destined to make a better living than our parents in an orderly and happy world, with the benefits of globalisation and capitalism. Instead we had 2008 and the negroid-islamiccrisis.

2/2 Conclusion

We are living in a world that wasn't made for us and for which we weren't prepared. 9/11 and 2008 came and robbed us our future. Not that western living has become a luxury, far from it. But it's become and empty luxury. I find solace in escapism - TV, anime, message boards, roleplaying - but I know that I'm only going down, not up. There is nothing worth looking up to. It's rigged. I know that I'm not doing a favor for the aryan race and whatnot, but I've given up. The worst is that I haven't even made it out of college yet. What will my degree do for me? Probably no good, the field is over-saturated.

Anyway, that was a bit of self-pity and whining, in bulk. That's the answer to your question. I'm apathetic when a man my age is supposed to feel full of energy and hope. If everything burns, I probably wouldn't care. It would only hasten my inevitable demise from this phony status.

It's prevalent because people see/hear the word 'depression' and take it literally because they're dipshits and think that it's synonymous with 'unhappy' rather than a clinical term. Then they go and think that they have a mental illness whenever things aren't going well for them and start diagnosing themselves and whinging on social media where it gets picked up and further propagated by other literary dipshits
>>
>>136488754
>Why is the depression culture so prevalent, /pol/ ?

People don't get outside and socialize anymore. It leads to loneliness. What makes it worse is we've replaced real interaction with fake social media, which is worse than just being completely isolated.

So instead of this:

>two buddies head to the pub and talk about interests, what they're working on and want to do, what problems they're having in life, with family, etc.

We get this:

>Two buddies spend all their time at home. They chat occasionally, only surface level. They learn of life events through faceberg, where only the good stuff is posted. They begin to believe everyone but them is living a grand life, shame creeps in, paranoia increases, loneliness amplifies, depression ensues.

I just got back from a camping trip with a good friend I hadn't seen in years (lives out of state). Through social media (which I rarely use), everything appears great in his life. We actually got to talking and he and his wife both hate their jobs due to shitty management which cycles through college grads, struggling financially, wants to do XYZ instead but is having trouble getting jobs. I have some of the same complaints, gave him recommendations, he gave me his. We actually fucking interacted, got some exercise and fresh air. Just disconnected from shit for awhile. It's so god damn rare these days.

I'm not depressed but my mood spiked for a good week after that. This is how our parents used to live. I bet depression would all but disappear if we could return to this. So much depression is due to a poor lifestyle, not actual chemical imbalances. And modern society is fucked up thanks to fuckerberg and the (((press))).
>>
>>136508756
Agreed. Ask /pol/ what keeps us living day to day and half will say "too pussy to suicide when there's still hope to see it all crash & burn"
>>
>>136499308
The ideas you spread on here are worth more than gold.
>>
>>136509743
People may not socialize anymore because of our culture that has taken this warped meaning. You have to be good enough, to respond to a set of values and interact following a social code that some of us did not learn because of early bullying, which is my case. In every era, individuals had to answer to this "social code". Today, it's just become so much easier not to do it and spend one's life drowning in escapism. That's also my case. Every minute I spend outside, I absolutely hate. I abhor work. Loneliness leads to apathy, and when depression adds itself on top of those two, it doesn't make anything better.

Although, to relate to your post, there is one thing that has made me feel better just yesterday.

I decided to go with my father to see ageing relatives. My father is a man in his fifties living in a messy apartment who's had several girlfriends. And to compare him to those ageing relatives, who had a house in good order, with those relics from the past made me feel better. It was pristine. Intact. Innocent. The 1960's carpet, the old ski magazines. I think there used to be a time when things were less hectic, when a man was judged on his work, and this encouraged him to work better. Ethics and marriage, as well as a good economy guaranteed that most people would move up instead of down. Today, those things feel like they're gone.

That's where your fucking wrong kid. Go pick up a hammer and make something. Stop valuing the achievement of the collective and start valuing the achievement of the individual.

So what if the world is going to shit, what are YOU going to make of it?

I simply have no energy left, which is funny since someone my age shouldn't feel this way. There is no need, no desire, no flame burning. I'll pick up a hammer and toil with immigrants on road works and other buildings for thirty years. Will that bring me love or happiness? No. Only guilt, because I will do a menial job instead of the academic work that has been beaten into me since I was born.

It's difficult to explain, and I wouldn't explain an American to understand. You have that culture of the "do-it-yourself, live the Dream, put enough effort and you'll see a return". I don't think this works for everyone. See at one point in life I thought I had it all. The (((friends))), the (((culture))), the (((happiness))). I worked out and bettered myself to attain this goal of love and success. I ended up with nothing; my willpower was drained.

No one is depressed because there are cool memes about depression. It's actually because people don't get enough sleep, because they stay inside and look at blue-light screens all day, which fucks up their body's sense of when to go to sleep.

I think Japan is really ahead of us. Soon most white men who weren't born into a liberal bubble will probably feel the same at varying degrees. You can already see how this Japanese disease of depression and permanent escapism creeps up on us. See at how many times normie magazines point out that men have become too childish or too weak. Must be the breakdown of marriage or order in the grand scheme of things. There's just no guarantee anymore, and the fact that we'll always need to struggle instead of occupying a nice lifelong office job probably makes the risk look too big compared to the reward of staying at home playing videogames. Why secure this nzw job or position when you know Paco can snatch it in a few months; when you know the company will need you at all hours and when you're expected to share all your work 24/7 in a nifty shared workspace that kills individual thought?

Oh there's Americans who wallow in self defeat the way you do (no offense). Difference is, there is no glass ceiling in America like there is in other parts of the world.

America was built by people who believed they could do anything they set their mind to. And those are the types of people who succeed. That's the American dream. There's no bureaucrat or higher power preventing you from getting somewhere. Literally no one is stopping you, although if you rise high enough, losers will try to take what you've built. Because they sat around thinking success falls into your lap through luck, and thus they get jealous of the "lucky" who have spent their time relentlessly working.

Some societies (don't know about France), basically put you in a caste system where you will hit too many barriers to succeed. That's not America. No one is keeping you down but yourself. But people in this country now seem to believe "freedom" and the american dream is all about someone handing you prosperity when it has never worked that way. Never. Although my generation (millennials) has been brought up thinking like that.

If you want it though, you can have it. You just have to be single-minded towards your goals. But no one in this country can stop you. And once you realize that, then you understand what real freedom is.

>No one is keeping you down but yourself.
>You just have to be single-minded towards your goals.

I could do that here too. With the Internet and endless education opportunities I could very well do it like you do in America. Hell, I could even go to America - that used to be my dream - and live my one American Dream. But I've suffered a defeat. I can't take the blow. Maybe I'm a defeatist, a coward, or I overreacted. But here's the deal. Three years ago I get to finish my high school year in some top-notch place. Understand, elite-level thing. I find out that I can't relate to anybody or make any friends. I find out that education-speaking, I'm not up to the task. Then, I get really attracted to a girl. Even with distance now, I can't convince myself that it didn't matter. It really mattered for me because it was the kind of feeling you rarely get more than once. So I try everything. I groom, I work out, I read a few books. To no avail. My grades don't go up. I'm rejected and denied everything I've ever truly put my heart at for (that girl).

Fast-forward to now. I'm waiting to enroll in law school. I feel no real urge to do well or to even go through it. Had I tried, I'm sure I could have made it to an elite college once again. But it's empty. I'm holding myself down.

Those personal struggles are linked with the things we've said in this thread. Social alienation, because I can't relate to any "normie" or have a decent conversation with any of them. Lack of self-esteem or established goals. I mean, I really don't want anything to do with this reality anymore. My biggest dream, which was to visit America, even died. The future is uncertain as fuck. No traditions, friend, or marriage will take me. I have nothing to aspire to - zilch. It's pointless. And when I turn the TV on, all I see is either happy people or people telling that the white man is this or that...

listen here you heathens, im an enlightened, life is meaningless, everything is worthless, life is nothing more than an accident, the only pourpose of life is reproduction, theres no higher meaning, no higher power, when you die you will be forgotten, it has happened to billions, but our human conciuness and intellect blinds us to the truth, everything revolves around protecting our fragile ego, its like a bubble, and every crack makes the truth more obvious, everything is meaningless, what is the answer to the dilemma of life? there are three answers to this,

physical suicide
kill yourself and your consciousness will be spared the eternal pain that comes with being human, escape and everything will be over, but does your ego wants you to escape? to give in to the cosmic imperative that renders life meaningless? dont you wanna say "FUCK YOU" to whoever is out there?

the other way is philosopical suicide
accept the great lie of a god that supposedly is out there and loves you, reject all intellect and critical, free thinking, happines is guarenteed trough the death of what makes us great,
and the final way,

ACCEPTANCE, accept the truth with open arms and a smile, for you dont have to prove yourself to anyone but you, the only god out there is yourself, youre king of your life, the only one you have to please is you, the only expectations you have to live up to are yours, your life is in your own hands and do whatever the fuck you wanna do with it, be part of society or not, accept your cultural baggage or not, fuck it, life is meaningless and our existence is absurd, the wind does not need a reason to be might, it simply its.

I work 32 hours a week at PetCo. I fucking hate PetCo, but was the only place that offered me a job. I live alone, and rarely see my family. I don't have friends, don't have a gf or wife.

I don't really enjoy anything anymore, pretty much all I do when not at work or asleep is cycle, work out, and read.

We're not any different than the animals I sell at Petco. Involuntary held and forced to participate in an unnatural environment that is massively detrimental to our mental health, all so that somebody we will never meet can gain something intangible.

and yet we wonder why people are OD'ing left and right

>>
>>136488754

Social media is a factor.

People go on facebook or other social media website and post all day about how great their lives are. You then start comparing your life to theirs which creates a feeling of being left out or because you are not experiencing the same lifestyle or life achievements you feel like at failure.

Gotta find a spouse anon and have a family. Seriously. Shitty jobs and shitty work will never change. It's the relationships with people that matter. Even if you had a kick-ass, high paying job, you'd still end up feeling lonely. You wouldn't starve, but you'd still have that emptiness.

It's hard finding meaning in life, which is ultimately what will motivate you. Living to be good to other people, to be a light in someone else's life, just to be a good person, that's all that really matters in my mind. Everything else eventually goes away. ?But you will live on through your family and the people around you, for better or worse, you will impact their lives. Especially with kids, you will determine the course of events in their life and your progeny by the example you provide. Be the type of ancestor you want your future generations to look back on and appreciate, admire and be encouraged by. Be that person, and maybe you'll find some fulfillment out of your time here.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

You have the cause and the effect confused. The youth are depressed. The world we live in contains too much expose to too many things adversarial to their mental health: perfect lifestyles on social media, information bubbles agitating one view, constant instant gratification and the constant stream of knowledge that there are big things wrong in this world that they are powerless to fix. Combine that with weak economic prospects and an eroded culture and the result is as you described. A generation of people with depression or some feeling of despair about the world that they live in

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Lack of personal responsibility.

Your mind is like your own little slice of reality, if you can't create joy in that tiny space how could you reasonably expect the anyone or anything else to? Yes of course the outside world affects us, but you must create your own happiness, there is no other way.

The state of the world may be in shambles but you must find joy in that absurdity and master yourself.

This is why it was always important to dedicate your life to the Lord in the past. To know that life on this earth is a temporary suffering. Whether true or not, it is a coping mechanism that people this day and age are lacking. This is why so many today are succumbing to new mental and social disorders and at a higher rate, including complications that stem from gender dysphoria. And counter-productively, these conditions are only being enabled and people are worshiping big pharma instead of the word of God.
