Would polygamy be that bad assuming it was done only by a small number of wealthy men who care for their children and make sure to financially provide for all of their needs?

White men only, sure.

I forgot today guys are all at church.
Most rich white men already do, at least serially. Look at Trump, kids with three different wives.

Probably not, but get rid of the divorce system that gives the female ridiculous amounts of the man's stuff, and you essentially have the same thing, if a rich man wanted that.
Plenty of rich people have concubines, escorts, and mistresses on the dl. It's likely never going to be "socially acceptable." The child from a rich man's third wife is still going carry around an aura similar to being a bastard, outside a strongly royalty-cult society. Even westerners in the heydays of monarchy didn't respect the King's children, who weren't born out of the main wife. I'm sure nonetheless most of them were quietly cared for and became relatively upper middle class citizens, for that era.
In this era, I honestly don't see why this should be even a question, considering most rich coupled don't even utilize the first wife. They just make "2.5" children and call it enough. Wife is too worried about "muh figure" and "muh dinner-party friends think" to even have more than 2 kids. Get to making that bitch get knocked up with 6 or so, before considering taking on another bitch.

I think it could solve a lot of our problems. If the laws were changed (to reduce the risks of marriage) and it became socially acceptable.
What's the alternative really? So many women would rather stay single than marry a lower status man. Better they join a harem than they remain single and childless. Or that they become single mothers. Or that they attempt to settle with a low status man they cannot respect and love and then ruin his life.

It's hard to pay equal attention to two people at once.
