Imagine where the Republican party would be without the electoral college and gerrymandering!

Electoral college - the last Republican president to win his first term with a majority of the popular vote was in 1988!!

Gerrymandering - Republicans have held majorities in congress in some years despite more Democratic votes being cast nationwide.

The system is rigged, and Republicans have mastered control of it.

People who say get rid of the electoral college are morons.

While some things granted in the Constitution are kept intentionally broad (gun rights, for example) The electoral college is described with a lot of specificity.

It prevents states with large populations controlling everything.

The electoral college is one of the things that binds the states together. It allows smaller states or more rural states balance in the power structure. If you're going to get rid of one of the foundational organizational structures of the republic, you have to allow any state that chooses to opt out.

Personally, as someone who supports secession movement, I delight in all these Leftists saying they want to do away with the electoral college. It may lead to states seceding from the union.

What if we kept the electoral college, but went by county instead of state?

if you think voter fraud is bad now, imagine how it would look if EVERY fake vote counted equally. you wouldnt have to guess which states are swing states, and you wouldnt have to worry about districts or anything else for that matter. you could stuff ballots anywhere, and it would affect the outcome equally.

So by that logic, why dont less populated districts in states get more voting representation?
You get a state government to address the particular needs of that state but the federal government election should be treated as a separate entity from the states elections the same way local elections don't determine the electoral college of representation within a state because most (I think all) states don't have intra-state electoral colleges

"LA County Admits Number Of Registered Voters At 144% Of Resident Citizens Of Voting Age" That means illegals, dead people and repeat voters. Rural people be damned. Rural states be damned. We are supposed to be the United STATES and the states should each have some say. That's why even rural states have two senators (Idiot Maher is against this, too). In a democracy, the mob renders states meaningless. The mob will vote for free stuff while voting away our guns, our free speech and other liberties. The mob will vote for slavery. Of course democrats want to get rid of the electoral college.

They just import new "americans" and buy their votes with gibs.

>democracy is the gold standard of political systems

Top fucking kek. This idea that anything non-democratic is bad needs to die a death hard. Is democracy ok in some cases? Of course. If you're voting on a regional county sheriff, mayor, state senators and house representatives for your personal district, sure.

Trying to have the elected leader of the free world be determined by someone having 1 more vote than the other is absolutely pants on head retarded however. The president is not the president of the American people. He is the president of the United States. The States. The 50 separate states that should all have a say in who rules over them at the federal level in the highest office of the land.

And the electoral college is balanced in the sense that we have a mixture of populous power AND the non-silence of the minority. Wyoming has proportionately more votes than California, but California has over 10x more votes because they simply have tens of millions of more people. They have more power but Wyoming isn't completely ignored simply because there's less of them. Those who argue the EC should be gone should also argue the Senate should be destroyed. After all, why should each state have 2 senators? Why should Wyoming and California have the same amount? Because the entire purpose of our political and governing format is to prevent the tyranny of the majority. Simply because 50.1% of people think something is right shouldn't give them the power to do as they please to anyone.

Democracy is impossible in a multicultural nation, especially where ethnic minorities have historical grudges against the majority. Shitskins don't vote ideas; they vote ethnic interest--and to hurt Whitey. This is of course exacerbated when you've got Jews constantly agitating, so any hope of "civic nationalism" whatever its value, is absolutely fucked, whereas it might have some chance of working otherwise.

This was quite literally their plan for Hillary's win. The libs didn't bray about this being the "last presidential election" on accident.

After giving citizenship and voting rights to the 30+ million illegals already in the country, then opening the floodgates to 50+ million more the libs would have an unbreakable lock on all future elections up until the country is destroyed, which was the end goal of their (((globalist))) masters.

Trump was the last chance to save the entire country.

They had the strategy to win the popular vote and they did. What they forgot was that winning the popular vote doesn't win the election.

>>
>>136360919
Do democrats realize that they will still lose? Trump spent zero money and time in CA and NY. Change the rules of the game and expect your opponent not to adapt? This is why democrats are democrats. They are people who can't fathom complex systems and dynamic feedback loops. Like blaming corporations for job loss and ignoring the negative impact of unions. Like thinking minimum wage will help the economy and ignoring the impact on cost of living.

Also, democrats tend to be poorly versed in history. Do they not remember what happened the last time they tried to remove states rights? Yes, the electoral college is about states rights. The Civil War was fought over states rights, not slavery. I will gladly volunteer if to fight if they successfully remove the electoral college.

Another thing about democrats. They gain support and argue purely using emotion. Al Gore knows democrats are still raw over the electoral college loss they sustained, so he is tugging on the emotion strings in order to get publicity and sell his second movie.

The US is geographically heterogenous. Its size alone makes up a majority of the North American continent. Ergo, the needs of individual states vary. Just by comparing those two maps, it's visible that the midlands are far less densely populated and face different challenges than the coastal states.
>>
The electoral college is needed now more than ever. If the Federal Government actually allowed the 10th Amendment to exist then sure we could do popular vote. But not when the Feds want to invade everything that should be left to the states.

Fuck the east coast libs trying to dictate how everyone should live like them in a shithole.
>>

>Imagine where the Republican party would be without the electoral college and gerrymandering!

The parties campaign to win states. If that changed the parties would change.
