How to deal with degeneration of public "political" discourse which is polarising the left and the right into two camps, the end result of which cannot be pretty?

How to engage in rational discussion (preferably dialouge) of concrete political problems from opposing perspectives (which is civil but not speech-policed)?

The questions presented serve as a mental exercise as well as a potential guidance to political action of actually taking politics in the sense of Aristotle, back into our hands. However, there are a few assumptions.

1. The left and right function as two opposing forces through human progress. The left is a force of change and the right is the force of conservation. These forces always coexist and they are present on all levels of humanity, from world systems to individual psyches. In a perfect relationship this would produce changes that makes the society/a persons life better without destabilising it, while maintaining valuable traditions and weeding out unnecessary change.

2. People are not inherently on the left or on the right, but they choose sides regarding certain issues. There are many factors (personality, social environment/pressure, emotions...) that might influence a leaning toward change (novelty) or resistance to change. Most people do not think rationally about the issues, they implicitly choose sides based on the mentioned factors. The current with information bubbles and select “comment warzones”

3. People capable of rational thought, regardless if they feel themselves as more right or left leaning, should hone their arguments and prepare for dialogue(!) with the other side. We should stop demonising the other side, as they are opposing "arguments" made by less-than-rational actors. We should seek out and engage with rational actors on the other side of the fence and "lower our guard", that is, be prepared to hear and understand(!) what the other side is saying.

This means we have to try to to model "their" ideology as accurately as we can for ourselves and then identify the points where there are disagreements. The real work begins here.

Do you guys do this or something similar in your life?

Please, attack my assumptions as well.

People will do what's effective in order to win, since politics involves power and spoils to be won.

So is there something we can do to make it so it's more beneficial to model your opponents points accurately vs strawmanning them? your image presents a false equivalency, at least the way things are now. I'd say the left is losing because they continue to inaccurately model their opponents, since they're not actually focused on winning but on feeling righteous. But that doesn't mean there isn't another way of misrepresenting the right that would be more advantageous than honesty. You can never fight the opponent without understanding them, but once you understand therm it's still often advantageous to strawman when engaging in rhetoric.

Politics always become polarizing when future is extremely incertain. Yes we would need dialogue between the parts, but it will most likely not happen, especially since in a democracy parties need votes and thus need to discredit the adversary/drag more people to their "side"

The huge advances on the right have been won from accurately modelling and deconstructing the left. But I can already see people on the new right falling into some self-delusions and making arguments like "even if this isn't really true we should say it in order to win"the problem is most people aren't smart enough to maintain this distinction, and since the lies are compelling (that's why they are adopted) they start believing them. Now you're actually believing a lie and your real position is compromised.

How about the left stops trying to genocide their own and pretty much all people with jewish, commie lore. Maybe then we can talk.

Oh and maybe also stop trying to steal everybodies stuff with taxation or just blatant government theft of all sorts.

yea that would be a nice start. But it wont happen because the left as it is today is hollow, shallow and is completely created by the kike elites.

The left is a lost cause. There is no point in arguing with glow in the dark CIA Niggers.
