Dogs have been around humans for thousands of years, and assist humans in hunting, being alert for danger, and being useful in a fight.

Cats have also been around humans for thousands of years... relentlessly hunting down vermin, and thus preserving food stores.


Meanwhile, rats try to eat our food stores, and them AND insects carry disease which they regularly transmit to humans.


The dog and the cat are not predators or parasites....

They actually have traits that allow humans to benefit from their existence.

If you're not an autistic retard you'll realize there's a bunch of cultural history behind these kind of things, and we value the lives of some animals more than others, especially those that people regularly build emotional bonds with.

Why do we bond with those animals? Thery're the ones that serve some useful domestic purpose while integrating us into their own social understanding (so they like us too), and being clean and safe enough for regular human contact.

and as much as i hate to admit it, sometimes cats are killed out of necessity too. cats can become a pest animal.

but yeah, killing an animal when you don't need, for the pleasure or whatever, is not a healthy sign. many murderers and such started on animals and then moved up. it's a warning sign, people seen torturing or killing animals for fun need to be watched closely.

hunting is kind of different though, for reasons that are difficult to explain, but it is very different especially for a skilled respectful hunter looking to only make clean quick kills whenever possible. for the meat and traditionalism. our ancestors did it for possibly hundreds of thousands or even millions of years, so there are deep genetic feels involved, it's a part of our human heritage. and often its even necessary to prevent overpopulation

Because cats and dogs are more similar to us, they're larger, have more expressions have a similar fear and pain reaction to us us and therefore trigger in normal people a similar empathy as one would have toward a human. If you have the same lack of empathy and remorse for killing cats and dogs as you would for an insect it indicates a flat-line empathy and therefore you're probably psychopath.
