$23 CAD is like $18.5 USD, then factor in the twice as high cost of living and it's more like $10 USD

In most cities $23/hr is barely a living wage and certainly not enough to comfortably raise a family. It's essentially what happens to you when you "work hard" without a 4-year degree.

Working class is the best position in so many countries - in Canada we have a shortage of tradesmen. Only in good ol US of A due to spics is being blue collar a bad thing. Come to Canada - literally every blue collar guy is white and redpilled as fuck.

Absolutely. However I've heard in the US it's a bit different due to astronomical student debt and malpractice insurance. But if you're in it for solely financial reasons you're in it for all the wrong reasons. You'll work for four years harder than you ever have before. You'll have next to no social life. That's a big sacrifice to make 6 figures.

Do an MBA if you just want to make money.

In Canada, ophthalmology provides the best of both worlds. I will be able to operate my own clinic, all the while doing operations (ophthalmology is a surgical discipline) in publicly funded hospitals. Of course the govt will cover 99% of surgeries, with only certain cosmetic procedures not being covered; however I'm planning on becoming a retinal specialist.

Definitely hit and miss, but I guess that's the nature of an anonymous site that anyone can post on. I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I think there's genuinely a lot of very intelligent and successful people in society who sympathize with the kinds of views seen on /pol/. But those people can't often speak up about it in their public life because it can mean career/social suicide. So many of them resort to coming to places like /pol/. You see some very well-researched and well-reasoned arguments on here that convince me it has to have been written by somebody with some serious higher education.

Wake up at 6 am, drink black coffee, drive to hospital and do a bunch of surgeries with an actual ophthalmologist (scleral buckle, vitrectomy etc.), Until about 1 pm, then just do clinic and paperwork until 5 pm, wash rinse repeat. Overall I really enjoy it though.

I can assure you with great certainty that that is not the case at all.

There are plenty of intelligent people on here as well that hold all sorts of political view points but the stupidity that one can discover on here is impressive.

>>
>>136186803

If you know it, you will be fine. Learn some JSON and just feel comfortable with ladder logic in a broad scope. If you know DeltaV, Honeywell and Siemens you can work anywhere. Drug companies, Power companies etc. All for good pay. Go pirate RSLogic from The Pirate bay and learn it cold - most small to mid size companies use it. A good fallback if you want to make 75-100K as a PLC guy.

This guy is pretty spot on. I think I find equal fulfillment in honest work or building your own business/set of investments.

I'm an EMS Captain, I supervise an ambulance service day to day.

I won't get rich off it but it is fun, I genuinely like my crew, and the schedule is fucking amazing with 4 days off at a time. Having that in the middle of the week makes for great /out/ time and leaves me time to build my little side business or work on my house.

It also has a nice state pension with it. Anyway, was contemplating further college but I'm happy where I'm at for a while at least. If I move on it will either be to a flight service or I'll switch paths to maritime work.

I've considered and tried to work on a couple of IT certifications and even some coding skills but frankly I grew up surrounded by games and tech and somewhere in my early 20s I just found myself incredibly burned out and disenfranchised with the whole world of computers and technology. I basically play a little Dwarf Fortress or a couple other games for a few weeks at a time maybe twice a year, but other than that, what used to be a strong interest is basically gone. I think it's a mix of losing too much of my youth to gaming and just being disappointed with where the Internet and gaming has gone.

Also, people who attach their identity to their employment I think are missing the point to life. Would you do what you do if it wasn't necessary for survival, for resources? I wouldn't. There's 50 other things I'd be doing: hiking, climbing, sailing, gardening, more time with my wife and daughter....that's the best way I've found to strip down your daily life to find your real identity, at least in terms of what we 'do'.

A 'career' is a meaningless thing that really only serves to strengthen consumerism and weaken the family in hand with modern feminism.

Nobody will remember me at work when I'm gone despite the changes I've helped make. Nobody remembers the prior Chiefs or the Captains before me, except for the stupid shit they did. What lasts, if anything, is the legacy of your family, the kind of person you were and what character you had. The blueprint you lived by and passed on. Money falls to inflation and waste, possessions go to the dump.

That 9/10 probably slagged herself out to all the Chads in her high school, before getting to him.

I grew up in a working class factory town. One factory basically employed the entire town, it was a nice place where a man could raise a family of four on a livable wage. Then dems made it impossible for businesses to survive in the state and all the factories shut down and were replaced by halfway houses and methadone clinics so major cities out of state can ship their bullshit junkies and welfare cases up to our town.

Now I have to live in a major city and pay exorbitant taxes and rental prices for the privilege of working as a white collar cuck surrounded by spoiled douchebags with rich parents who just blab about how life changing their vacations are.

I feel like a such a sucker, my dad owned a house by the time he was my age. I'm doing well and live comfortably but I have literally nothing to actually show for my work but a small savings acct and student loan debt.

Not me. Family owns acouple appartement blocks. I'll never have to work.

Well, if the boomers hadn't sold out our future, by taking copious amounts debts you may have been able to do that?

I like the way you think. I know guys who always make sure they do 60-70 hours/week. Surely they make good money but now work has consumed their lives. I don't wish to live that way. Work is to pay the bills and have a little left over to enjoy life.

>Majority of /pol/ users are successful White collar people
You need to stop taking this board is fact. Maybe 10% max of this board could be considered "successful."
>>
>>136187004
That sounds like a damn good life. Don't let any numale faggots tell you otherwise.
>>
According to a poll, half of /pol/ has dropped out of society. So I imagine that only around 23% of /pol/ are actually successful. For those interested:

Data mining. Do not give away your info faggots. This question keeps being asked regularly.

Master tradesman here in Canada

$120 hr

I charge 4 hours for after hours service calls min+mileage

No family or vices

People that shit on blue collar work are fools. If you work in a trade and apply yourself starting a business is easy.
>>
>>136189558
Like I said, a very small minority of this board is high functioning and successful in work, relationships, or whatever.
>>
>>136189702
Who cares. What can ((they)) do with data about our made up jobs on a Laotian sewing website.
>>
>>136188955
I think that's mostly true. Maybe it's just that I'm young, but I feel so purposeless and bored. I can do plenty of things to entertain myself, like with sports, books, movies, 4chan, schools, ect, but it's like everything is one big lead up to something else. However if down the road I can make sick people better then I'll know at least I've done something meaningful.

Lol sure dude

Why would so many of you respond to an obvious data mining query? Are you seriously this stupid or are you (as I hope) just feeding them bullshit answers?

I don't think someone saying they are an electrician in America will lead to a doxxing.

I dont doubt a lot of them dont understand the value of data.

Who needs to collect data? Jews? The NSA already knows every website you go on. Unless you post identifiable information, you have no need to worry.

Thought about going this route. In school now for aerospace engineering but don't know if I can take the desk jockey lifestyle. How good is the salary? I want to be able to support a large family

Again, there are several alphabet agencies who collect data on the entire country. Also, this board is too much of a joke for anyone to truly be concerned.
