the difference is that "gay themes" nowadays are made with the intent to normalize faggotry and promote deviation from behavior that is conducive to a good society. the things posted in OP were from jokes - it was meant to provoke the reaction of "wow that's so crazy because it's not a normal thing at all and it's funny because these wacky characters are so outrageous", whereas nowadays it's to provoke the reaction of "these godless degenerate faggots are actually just like me and we should accept them into society"
