Was the DNC the only computer Russia hacked? That would definitely indicate a targeted operation and suggest the election as the target.

Or did Russia hack other computers during that time, and the DNC was just one of them? That would make it harder to say the DNC was targeted for election meddling.

Asking for a friend.

There was a grand jury impaneled against Darren Wilson too, but no one was ever indicted.

It could just be the end of the investigation, and Mueller is going to present the evidence to a jury so more than one person will be responsible for whatever decision is made. That way it will be harder to impugn the decision, since will be multiple.

>>
This investigation started to find out why Trump and Russia made a deal to make the election easier for him in exchange for doing everything possible to remove the magnitsky act. It's going to end with putting on the table all the loans and laundered money he received from oligarchs and state banks. donnie got into a lot of debt with bad people when no other bank would touch him
>>
>>136040574
It's a criminal investigation, evidence gathered in secret won't be released until the cases go to court.
>>
>>136039729
I'm guessing you don't impanel a grand jury while you are still doing an investigation. You wait until the investigation is over and you have all your evidence lined up. Then you impanel your jury to present the evidence to.

If that's right, the investigation is over, all the evidence is in, and there have been no leaks about indictments, which means there won't be any.
>>
>>136040867
perhaps but that's because the prosecutor didn't want an indictment. Prosecutors never really go after police officers. The grand jury in that case was a formality.

generally speaking impaneling a grand jury means an indictment will follow. Unless Mueller and his team don't want one, which is unlikely given the team is made up of fervent anti-Trumpers

Here's the short version:

Trump, Trump Jr, Kushner and Manafort have been involved with helping Russian oligarchs launder money into US real estate for ~15+ years.

Those same Russian stole Hermitage Capital from its rightful American owner and used it as a vehicle to commit a $230 million tax fraud, funnelling the proceeds through Alfa Bank and ultimately through banks and shell corporations in Cyprus (such as Prevezon Holdings) into US real estate.

After they had Magnitsky murdered for becoming inconvenient, the U.S. government passed the Magnitsky Act essentially blacklisting those oligarchs from the US financial system, and initiated a case against Prevezon Holdings. Those same oligarchs used their agents to negotiate a meeting with Trump Jr, Kushner and Manafort where they offered to help Trump get elected if he would make the Magnitsky Act and the case against Prevezon holdings go away. Their alleged assistance may have included hacking the DNC, oppossition research, and laundering Russian money into US elections via political online marketing.

They took the deal, and worked together to get Trump the election. Trump immediately tried to roll back the Magnitsky Act sanctions upon taking office and suspiciously fired Preet Bharara and settled the Prevezon Holdings case for peanuts after taking office.

Assuming Mueller can prove this, it's a RICO prosecution against Trump, Trump Jr, Kushner, Manafort, Flynn, Page, and anyone else who knowingly participated.

This on-the-second reporting is really bad for the news. People jump to conclusions before all the evidence is in, and then they have a hard time reversing their unsubstantiated conclusions when new evidence comes in. It's a mess.

Belief Perseverance: n. a psychological phenomenon in which there is a tendency to persist with one's held beliefs despite the fact that the information is inaccurate or that evidence shows otherwise. This contrary nature shows an unwillingness to admit that the initial premise may not be true.
>>
>>136041436
I agree. Anyone who would have been influenced by the Wikileaks reveal was already going to vote for Trump. Likewise anyone who was leaning toward Clinton completely disregarded the leak. I don't believe the leak moved the needle whatsoever.

The whole Russia story is a case of cognitive dissonance. Shitlibs and the fake news media simply can't believe that an "idiot" like Trump could be elected unless something nefarious was going on. Just as Trump says, the Russia story is an excuse, a narrative made up by the dems and the fake news media to explain away why Clinton lost to a supposed buffoon.

The special grand jury has a duty under 18 U.S.C. § 3332(a) "to inquire into offenses against the criminal laws of the United States alleged to have been committed within that district." Such alleged offenses may be brought to the jury's attention by the court or by any attorney appearing for the United States to present evidence to the jury. It is incumbent upon any such government attorney to whom it is reported that a Federal offense was committed within the district, if the source of information so requests, to refer the information to the special grand jury, naming the source and apprising the jury of the attorney's action or recommendation regarding the information.

So where's the crime? Trump was finding buyers for his projects. They included some Russians. He didn't check out the source of their funds, nor was he responsible for that.

Note that Mueller is only supposed to pursue criminal matters. If this isn't a crime he isn't supposed to touch it. I am pretty sure he was abusing his position. I want his records evaluated by a neutral or hostile party.

A grand jury is needed to indict, right? Although the prosecutor can file a case himself via an "information".

This is what I remember from the George Zimmerman case. The evidence wouldn't even have convinced a grand jury, so they just filed an information, but the max. charge they could do that way was Murder 2. That's why they didn't charge GZ with Murder 1.

MUELLER GENEALOGY
Discussion about the Origin and Meaning of the Jewish SurnamesI

The vast majority of Jews are descended from immigrants who arrived from Europe. These ashkenazic Jews migrated from small towns or shtetels of Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Germany, Romania or Ukraine, leaving behind most of their Jewish relatives. After two or three generations, those Jewish families lost track of their relatives, having been saved from the war, emigrated to other countries like USA, England or Australia.

This isn't true. Depending on the person/transaction you can get in trouble for not bothering to look into who you're doing business with or where their funds are coming from.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/10/opinions/russia-probe-money-laundering-database-opinion-zeldin/index.html
>Broadly speaking, under the criminal money laundering statutes, it is a crime for any person to engage knowingly in a financial transaction with knowledge that the transaction involves the proceeds of criminal activity. The courts have interpreted knowledge to include actual knowledge and willful blindness -- deliberately avoiding gaining knowledge when faced with a high likelihood of criminal activity, i.e.,ignoring red flags of suspicious activity.
>For example, if a US person were to accept payment for a condominium with knowledge that the source of the funds used in the transaction was derived from some form of criminal activity, then that person potentially could be charged with violating the money laundering statutes.

Mueller and his purposefully selected team of democrats will conclude that there was no illegal activities. (the media will find some salacious sounding factoids and try to blow them out of proportion of course.)

Then democrats will bitch and whine that the investigation was a fraud, Mueller is a secret Russian Trump lackey, and that there must be an investigation of the investigation. Rinse and repeat until its midterm election time and that Soros money starts coming in

...we are currently in the middle of Donald Trump's six-thousandth instance when a portion of the news media has bought into the idea of a Donald Trump pivot. It's a never-ending loop that goes something like this:

Three months or so of absolutely infuriating, hair-pulling-out, disrespectful, shameful behavior from Donald Trump and the people who work for him. This is usually followed by a major personnel change, which is in turn followed by 48 hours or so of stories about how Donald Trump is a changed man. This, of course, only lasts until Trump reveals some new and awful bigoted policy change that seemingly exists exclusively to hurt a minority group, or until he insults a world leader for no reason, or until he's hangry one night and McDonald's is closed so his only choice is to go on an unhinged Twitter rant.

>>
>>136043367
Perhaps not sadly.

There was already a grand jury empaneled for Flynn prior to Mueller becoming Special Counsel. Mueller took over the Flynn grand jury, which is still active.

In most conspiracy cases, a separate grand jury is not empaneled for every co-conspirator. That would require endless repetition of the basic facts to each new grand jury. Generally it's a single grand jury that handles all of the indictments.

So why would Mueller need to empanel a second one for Russia when one already exists?

I'm not saying it's impossible for them to want to compartmentalize what's told to each grand jury investigating different aspects of the same case, but it's certainly unusual.

If I were to bet on this, I would bet the second grand jury is not related to Trump campaign Russia collusion.

That doesn't necessarily mean it's for the DNC (could be they found dirt on Trump's businesses), but if I had to bet, I'd bet on it being DNC.

>>
>>136039729
Ok, I took some criminal justice classes in college so I'm basically a lawyer. Mueller had already impaneled a grand jury for Flynn, this is another one. This means the investigation is over and Mueller is providing all his findings to the grand jury to see if there's probably cause to bring an indictment. This means the investigation is over and we might see indictments very soon.

The fact of the matter is that you don't impanel a grand jury when you already have all the power the grand jury has, like Mueller does. As special counsel he is allowed to subpoena, interview, etc.

From my personal opinion, Trump won't be charged. From the looks of it and from the fact patterns, it seems Flynn and Manafort are pretty much fucked. Remember, just a week ago it was reported that Mueller was looking into Trump's financials. It takes more time to look through a billionaire's financials than just a couple of weeks.

Summary: no collusion. Flynn and Manafort will get charged with some type of money crime.

Screenshot this.

I don't know about the rest of /pol/ but I for one want DC to get as dysfunctional as possible - really, for the whole system to collapse in front of everyone's eyes. They're digging deep now, and they'll find skeletons, believe me. Whether by grand jury, WikiLeaks, insiders or Trump blowing shit wide open, they'll find all sorts of shit under the rock the stupid fucks are lifting up.
And it'll be fucking chaos. Chaos. Good. Your system is garbage and it's been held together by duct tape and patchwork for DECADES.
Here's an analogy: Hospitals (especially in Canada) are overfilled, nurses are overworked, and underfunded. Units regularly go dangerously low on staffing. But what happens? The lowest paid nurses work extra hours and cover for the laziest of their colleagues. Because they don't want the whole thing to collapse because patients would get hurt. Good right? Fucking wrong. Their patchwork holds it all together so when management sees that things are still getting done they go Great! No problems here! Back to fucking this qt 3.14 pharma rep!
Bureaucrats far and wide are the nurses here. DUMB FUCKING NORMIES are the management and the country is the hospital. The fucking thing needs to fail so everyone can see how horribly horribly fucked everything is.
End of storytime faggots

Thomas Zeno, a federal prosecutor for 29 years before becoming a lawyer at the Squire Patton Boggs law firm, said the grand jury is “confirmation that this is a very vigorous investigation going on.”
“This doesn’t mean he is going to bring charges,” Mr. Zeno cautioned. “But it shows he is very serious. He wouldn’t do this if it were winding down.”
Another sign the investigation is ramping up: Greg Andres, a top partner in a powerhouse New York law firm, Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, has joined Mr. Mueller’s team.
Mr. Andres, a former top Justice Department official who also oversaw the criminal division of the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn, wouldn’t leave his private-sector job for a low-level investigation, Mr. Zeno said.
“People like Greg Andres don’t leave private practice willy-nilly,” Mr. Zeno said. “The fact he is being added after couple of months shows how serious this is and that it could last a long time.”

“This is yet a further sign that there is a long-term, large-scale series of prosecutions being contemplated and being pursued by the special counsel,” said Stephen I. Vladeck, a law professor at the University of Texas. “If there was already a grand jury in Alexandria looking at Flynn, there would be no need to reinvent the wheel for the same guy. This suggests that the investigation is bigger and wider than Flynn, perhaps substantially so.”

Those differ because typically US attorneys will not present a case to the grand jury without it being absolutely fucking airtight. They do this because it is in their best interests career-wise.

Mueller is in a different position. Regardless of the outcome, it is in his best interests to diffuse the responsibility for said outcome. You can't really compare the US attorney-driven cases with special council-driven cases because of the vast differences in interests.

Do liberals realize they're destroyed politics in America forever with their quaint resistance culture?

I used to think there was some sort of balance that could be walked between conservative and liberal. Compromises could be made. We can have the death penalty and abortion. We could stop illegal immigration but keep throwing money in the gibs pits of Africa on the off chance that some tiny scraps make to the actual needy.

But after being called a racist, a sexist, a fascist, and a nazi-supporter by not just butthurt hippie protestors but by countless big name celebrities for simply voting, people who were given screen time and a soapbox to stand on by major outlets of pretty much every type just to demonize me for not thinking just like them, after watching CNN try to reframe everything the president has done and every political stance of the GOP as negative, and all the BS just straight up invented to complain about, do you liberals ever expect anyone to cooperate with you ever again?

>I don't need cooperation I'll win the house and senate and presidency and do it without you

Yeah I don't know if you've noticed but that actually doesn't work very well anymore because there's so many delaying tactics. GOP currently has that exact setup RIGHT NOW, why do you think nothing has happened?

Its tactics included hacking state election systems;

and disseminating through social media and other outlets negative stories about Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and positive ones about Mr. Trump.

I'm well aware of what that article says. What the article fails to mention is that previous investigations of large-scale criminal conspiracies do not empanel additional grand juries. Even Watergate used a single grand jury.

Having a second grand jury empaneled means the investigation has gone beyond campaign collusion and is investigating something else.

Maybe it's still related to Trump (old business deals or illegal stuff while in office). I doubt it, but it's certainly possible.

What is a certainty, though, is that it has moved beyond the campaign.

>Its there its just super secret and never leaked unlike literally everything else even remotely related to muh Russia
The Feds never even looked at the DNC hard drives.

Why would Steele throw away his career and reputation as an intelligence professional? This is more revisionism built to justify Trump's Twitter ramblings.
>>
So how do you guys justify Trump taking over two weeks off to golf? Especially how he whined about Obama doing it and promised he never would?

Also how about the leaked transcripts of him admitting the wall will never happen?
>>
>>136048128
His career was already over. Fusion GPS was a retirement gig.

We're getting into state-sponsored organized crime now.
Putin and friends are trolling Trump over signing the sanctions earlier this week.

They didn't have to physically, they looked at some sort of virtual copy that was essentially the same thing. The FBI was satisfied with it, as are the rest of the intelligence agencies in the government. Cry more. You may as well go join the rest of the dipshits who complain we don't know if Osama is still alive or not because we never saw pictures of his corpse.
>>
>>136048128
That is the purpose of Fusion GPS. They do campaigns using their political and career capital to do damage to political opponents of the Democrats.

Fusion GPS is likely going down as a result of this. Don Jr getting subpoenaed makes no sense because he did nothing illegal.

If you think he's golfing, you're drinking too much Kool-Aid.

Trump built a SCIF at Mar-a-Lago and another in Trump Tower. Private contractors. No NSA surveillance. Golf is a cover for the know-nothing public.

Remember how Brennan and Obama shit bricks during the campaign when Admiral Rogers (NSA head) went to talk with Trump without telling them first? Talked about firing Rogers even without knowing what he and Trump talked about? That's when the info came out that Trump had secure sites for discussions away from prying eyes.

But keep telling yourself it's golf. Probably better that way.

Fusion GPS works for anybody who will pay for their services. That's the definition of a research firm for hire.

>As part of their litigation support, Fusion GPS investigated Bill Browder, founder of Hermitage Capital Management and a witness central to the case.[15] During the course of the case, Browder claimed that Fusion GPS had previously been hired to undertake a pro-Russia campaign aimed at stopping passage of the Magnitsky Act,[16][17] named after Sergei Magnitsky, a lawyer and auditor who died while being held without charges in a Russian government prison after he asserted that the Kremlin had stolen hundreds of millions of dollars from Hermitage Capital Management.

You fags still thinking Mueller is going after Trump. DNC / Fusion / Russian Lawyer getting brought in.

Trump can fire Mueller at any time, and end any and all investigations, but he has not done that.

Trump will announce this news tonight that they are going after Clinton. Screen cap this.

Yeah, I'm sure it's just a coincidence he's going to be spending 17 days at a golf resort and not Camp David or, stop me if I'm sounding like a crazy person, staying in Washington like he ordered Congress to do until they hash out health care.
>>
>>136048772
Fusion GPS has a history of working with Democrats. They did attacks against Romney.
>>
>>136048699
No see thats what i want, that actually makes more sense than him leaving two golf for weeks

Now explain the second part. The leaks are pretty damning imo

All American subhumans need to be gassed asap. You're all retarded beyond recognition.

Congress would shit themselves, and re-appoint him as special counsel just to avoid the lynchings back home.
