The actual number of US Universities in the world top 100 and number of students that attend them is very poor compared to the size of their economy. To put it in context the UK has 13 out of 100 of the worlds top 100 universities this year. I haven't bothered to count the US but let's give them 60, because France, Holland Germany and China + others have a few. Singapore has 3 and Hong Kong has 3, which means almost every graduate in their country has an elite education.
