Advertisers want to appeal to as many demographics as possible. Most whites don't sperg out if they see a black person on tv, but blacks will not identify with the show/ad if there is nobody there like them. So if there are three people in a show/ad, you have to have have one white, one black, and one latino, and both sexes represented.
