Trump goes hard on illegal immigrants during his first term. What happens?
- ICE Deporting by the thousands
- Border crossings are down, and will continue to go down as the wall gets built
- Gangs and hardened criminals completely BTFO'd.
- Illegals afraid of being deported or who can't support themselves and leave welfare programs deport themselves back home.
- His new immigration policy means higher skilled workers who won't be washing dishes or taking construction jobs. A gap is formed for a few years, the unemployed who wants to work will be able to get into the job market.
If this passes and becomes law, Trump will wait until his second term and will push for legalization for the illegals that remain. It won't be a direct amnesty - either they have to earn it via higher taxes, military service, or some other way. And they won't be able to vote for 10 years, or what have you. No direct citizenship, but a pathway towards it.
At this point the job market should have stabilized. We know that a top-heavy economy needs low skill jobs to support it and the influx of illegal-to-legal immigrants will be there to fill it.
I always thought this but this new policy proves it to me beyond a shadow of a doubt. Trump wants to be the best president, he's not going to leave major problems unsolved by the time he's done.
