About fucking time.
There is NO shortage of low skill labor in the US. There's a cheap labor lobby that wants to drive down wages though. The wages are already so low that you can't live of them, you need massive government assistance. That's effectively tax payers subsidizing cheap labor for corporations.
There is a shortage of high skill labor and that might be a good thing to import them as long as it leads to economic growth and doesn't drive down wages. Some businesses legitimately cannot grow and hire more people because they're missing a few highly skilled people at key positions to allow their business to operate.
Ideally we should just train more skilled people though. Why train people when you can just import them and it's cheaper? That will also become an issue. Skilled workers were protected from immigration (apart from outsourcing). Now they'll be less so. That's not good. But right now the shortages are pretty big and organizing to train people to do what companies actually need takes time.
