I was mostly being facetious, however while I do like being a mother I don't really find it fulfilling. Its a weird thing to describe. I mean I like kids and I don't mind cooking or keeping two toddlers and an infant from killing themselves, but so often I find myself groaning in boredom because I have enough free time to be bored but not enough free time to actually have hobbies.

I'm an electrical engineer, 2 years out of school. I write VERILOG for fpga design and shit. It isn't interesting. I want to get back to my roots and get work as a circuit designer but damn if it isn't hard to get work in this field.

If I could go back, if have tried to be an aerocraft mechanic or something like that, with more defined skills. As an engineer my "skill" is practicing a certain kind of problem solving, but I'm not really that smart so i think having confidence in a few skills would be far better for me.

I met my husband at a church while I was in college that my religious friend dragged me to, but most of the middle/upper class housewives I know either have bullshit degrees and married soon after graduating or got a real degree and got married before hitting 30. My sister got her degree in psychology, got her master's in something specific worked for a few years, and settled down at 28, my mother just got an associate's degree and pretty much just waited tables until my siblings and I were like 4+ when she quit working altogether, and I got a degree in chemistry and worked until I gave birth to my first kid after which I quit so I could raise my own children.

Blue collar is not a bad thing anon. Opportunity is out there. I started out working minimum wage, went through a trade apprenticeship and have wound up in a pretty comfy maintenance job. Unions can help if you want to go that way, but also know there are non union trade schools out there that do the same function of a union apprenticeship. They paid for my training so long as I worked for a contracted group of employers.

Went into college and studied history. Drug and alcohol case management. My case load continuously grows every day. My clients constantly need to go to rehab for which there are no beds, and they lie to me non-stop.
