My only complaint with Dunkirk is that they glossed over the fact that Hitler allowed the Allies to escape. They pretend like it was a miracle that so few were hurt. There was about 2% of the Allies that were killed in the evacuation (6,000 out of 300,000 troops), and the Brits pretend it was a miracle that they escaped

The Nazi's could have rolled into the beaches with tanks and massacred every Allied soldier there, but Hitler allowed them to leave. Hitler is on the record saying at that point he believed there was still an opportunity to reach a diplomatic solution with the British. Hitler was fighting Communists, he actually respected the UK and didn't wish to fight them. Remember that it was the Brits that declared war on Germany, not the other way around.
