What exactly did Fascist Italy and Mussolini did wrong that they did so badly in WWII?
The same (well, very similar, anyway) ideology in National Socialist Germany revived their nation to heights never seen before, Why was Fascist Italy so... meh?
It doesn't help that the media, most countries' education, and basically everybody just doesn't know or talk about Fascist Italy at all when they talk about WWII. It's mostly "The Evil Nazis" and "the Evil Japs".
Mussolini would just be another Salazar had he not invaded Greece and joined with Adolf. Its arguable to say him trying to get Greece fucked over the entire war effort.
Mussolini was very popular and Italy was doing well until he decided to go to war. Their military was simply not ready to wage such a conflict and he was a shit strategist. Most likely he was banking on riding the coattails of the seemingly invincible nazi war machine. Due to nothing but massive failures and eventually Allied attacks on Italian soil the people not surprisingly got sick of it and turned on him. There was no reason for Italy to be in the war other than "muh conquest", a cause the people didn't care for in the first place and the Italian military having literally zero success at it made everything fall apart.

He fell for the blitzkrieg meme
He just wanted to send a bunch of people to die before the war was over so he could pretend he accomplished something and get free shit from papa hitler

>Their military was simply not ready to wage such a conflict
How come, especially when Germany was so successful at militarising?
>and he was a shit strategist.
Any examples? Would like to learn more.
