My wife is pregnant and we live 5 min away from an in network hospital but they won't let her deliver there, instead they are forcing us to deliver at a hospital that is an hour away without traffic possibly 2 hours if traffic is bad (which it always is depending on the time of day). When we talked with them about this they said, "Many people get hotels near here when they are reaching their due date". Right, a baby is already expensive like we really need to be paying for a hotel for two weeks or more just because they can't get their shit together. If we lived somewhere rural I would understand that more but we don't, we live in a big city. My wife even tried to look into if she could stay at her parents for the end of her pregnancy since they live 10 min away from a hospital that will deliver babies but the insurance company still won't cover it since its an out of network hospital. It's gotten to a point though where everything is billable through to insurance and the costs for even a check up are ridiculous without it, even more so now that everyone is forced into the marketplace.
