Sometime around 2011 Donald Trump was setting up the Miss Universe pageant in Moscow, and met some investors named the Agalarovs, who convinced him to start program to allow Russian "businessmen" to hide their money in the U.S. through real estate transactions.
The "condo sales" were then transferred through Deutsch Bank and a rebate was given, to offshore accounts.
Meanwhile, Trump may or may not have defiled a hotel room for laughs, which was taped by former members of the KGB. An investor (a guy named Sergei) ratted out the incident and it was buried by the press in France.
At the same time, the U.S. government enacts the , formally known as the Russia and Moldova Jackson–Vanik Repeal and Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012, to freeze Russian assets in the U.S.
Putin reaacts by banning adoptions of Russian orphans to the U.S.
A few years later, Trump runs, wins the Republican nomination, and an Agalarov family lawyer requests a meeting to discuss lifting the Magnitsky Act, should the candidate win the presidency.
In a flurry to bury the story, the Trump family denies the meeting and tries to confuse with a story about "adoptions" (not once, but five times).
Meanwhile, anyone with a spine quits the administration within six months.
